A prestigious signing for Sviluppo Sud Catania, which has announced the signing of French spiker Luka Basic for the 2025/2026 season.

The Frenchman will strengthen the Catania team’s offensive line, bringing international experience and top-notch technical skills, including defensive skills.

A native of Rennes, France, born on January 29, 1995, Basic grew up in the solid training environment of French centers such as CREPS Montpellier and AS Cannes, before moving to Spacer’s Toulouse between 2014 and 2016.

Featuring an imposing physique (201cm) and with volleyball blood in his veins (his father Veljko, a former Yugoslavian athlete and now a renowned coach, and his mother a former player), he developed an overwhelming passion for the sport from an early age.

In 2018, he arrived in Italy, playing three seasons in the SuperLega with Power Volley Milano and then with Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia in the 2021/22 season, playing 22 games and scoring 119 points. He then moved to Piacenza and, starting in 2023, to Saturnia Acicastello.
