Game 1 of the SuperLega Scudetto Finals Credem Banca smiles on Sir Susa Scai Perugia! The home team, in a sold-out Pala Barton Energy (4,951 spectators), moved ahead in the series against Cucine Lube Civitanova thanks to a convincing 3-0 victory, allowing Angelo Lorenzetti’s team to look forward to Game 2, scheduled for Sunday, May 3rd, at 6:00 PM at the Eurosuole Forum. For their part, the Cucine Lube team will be eager to mend the gap immediately, giving themselves a chance to win in front of their fans. A note of color at the start of the match: the official match ball was handed over to the second referee by young Jacopo, a symbolic gesture that once again underscores the importance of youth in the world of volleyball.

The MVP of the evening was Simone Giannelli, Sir’s setter (and tonight’s scorer, his 100th point of the season): the home setter sent Wassim Ben Tara (who was named Credem Banca Semifinal MVP moments before the match with 15 points), Oleh Plotnytskyi (11), and Roberto Russo (11 points in total, with three blocks for the Italian middle blocker) into double figures. For Lube, however, only Aleksandar Nikolov scored double figures, with 10 points.

On a night when Sebastian Solé and Fabio Balaso reached a special milestone, that of 400 appearances in the Credem Banca SuperLega, the first set saw the two teams start tied before Sir’s decisive surge, which ended the set with a block by Roberto Russo. Perugia also held control in the other two sets: Mattia Boninfante’s error from 9 meters sparked Sir’s joy, now leading 1-0 in the series. A series that promises to be long, exciting and full of twists and turns: the second act of a Final that has already made history (the sixth meeting in the Final for the two teams, a record) is scheduled for Sunday, May 3, at 6:00 pm, live on Rai Sport, DAZN and VBTV.
