ErmGroup Altotevere’s third-place finish in the White Group of the Credem Banca Serie A3 championship also came about (and especially at the end of the regular season) through tie-breaks. This had never happened in the first 12 matchdays, and it then happened six times in the next eight. After two initial losses, a streak of eight complete victories followed; two more losses at the start of the second half of the season, and finally a “systematic” recourse to the fifth set from the third matchday, interrupted only by Cagliari’s 3-1 and Trebaseleghe’s 3-0. Not only that: the four most recent matches played at the San Giustino sports hall have always gone to tie-breaks, including Sarroch, Mirandola, Savigliano, and Mantova, to which must be added those of Valenza against Acqui Terme and San Donà di Piave. The overall record: three wins and as many losses with different dynamics and evolutions; that’s the difference.
