Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza announces the agreement to extend the contract of opposite hitter Alessandro Bovolenta, who will wear the red and white jersey until 2029.
The extension of the player’s contract with Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza was signed in recent days, to the satisfaction of both parties. In the recently concluded season, Alessandro Bovolenta made 43 appearances in the Regular Season, Italian Cup, Scudetto Playoffs, and CEV Cup, playing 160 sets and scoring 642 points.
Alessandro Bovolenta, born in Rome and turning twenty-two on May 27, will continue to wear the Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza jersey for the next three seasons. Standing 207 centimeters tall, he began playing volleyball at the age of eleven, after leaving a promising career in football. After playing in the Ravenna youth sector, he made his SuperLega debut with Consor Ravenna in the 2021-2022 season. He then played two seasons in the A2 league in Ravenna. For the last two seasons, he has played for Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza.
In five seasons, three in the SuperLega and two in the A2 league, he has made 128 appearances, including 68 in the SuperLega and 60 in the A2 league. He won 65 matches and scored 1,794 points: 1,559 in attack, 118 aces, and 117 blocks.
Between 2021 and 2022, Alessandro Bovolenta was called up to the Italian Under-19 national team, with which he won gold at the European Youth Olympic Summer Festival. In 2022, he won the gold medal with the Under-20 team at the European Under-20 Championship, where he was named MVP of the event. In 2023, he won silver at the World Championship with the U21 national team, and in 2023, he also received his first call-ups to the senior national team: a winning debut against Belgium during the European Championship, where Alessandro scored the final goal of the match. At the end of the European Championship, Italy won the silver medal. Starting Monday, May 11, he will take part in the first training camp for the Italian national team led by coach De Giorgi.
