A celebration with the handbrake on. Domotek Volley won Game 1 of the playoff final for promotion to Serie A2, defeating a strong Belluno Volley at PalaBenvenuti. Captain Domenico Laganà and his Amaranth teammates laid the groundwork for the promotion to Serie A2, but the excitement has already been channeled into the next battle: Game 2 will be played on Sunday, May 10th at 6:00 PM in Belluno, with a spot in Serie B at stake.
Despite the victory, the post-match atmosphere was a mixture of joy and a hint of disappointment. The venue was sold out, but the 1,500 seats were enough to fill the hearts and hearts of fans.
And Laganà himself turned that regret into a source of pride: “Before the match, I was thinking about Serie B, when we played in small school gyms in Sicily, and in Reggio, there were 150-200 people. We’re almost disappointed to have hosted only about a thousand spectators, because at Palacalafiore there would have been 5-6,000. We’re doing something incredible. I’m thrilled to be part of this family.”
The captain praised the team’s adaptability, which managed the inconveniences of last-minute organization like “true professionals,” and sent a hug to those who worked day and night to make the event possible.
It was a thrilling moment when Gianluca Schipilliti, Laganà’s teammate from his first year at Domotek in Serie B, was spotted in the stands. Schipilliti spoke from the sidelines about the bond that unites them, far removed from locker room routines and closer to that of pure friendship: “There were no friends there; there was a wonderful, festive atmosphere, but above all, there was a great friend from day one. Great memories, great friends. It’s an extraordinary fairytale that started with that group.”
