A reciprocated love, a shared feeling, a mutual trust: Cisterna Volley and Daniele Mazzone are still together. The middle blocker from Chieri (who turns 34 in June) will be a key part of Daniele Morato’s roster for the 2026-2027 season.
“I’m very happy. If I hadn’t been, I would have chosen other paths. A famous saying goes, ‘You always go back to where you felt good.'” Since I don’t like wasting time, I decided not to leave and then return; I preferred to stay. It will be my fourth year in Cisterna: I feel good here, in every sense. As for the on-court aspect,” Daniele Mazzone emphasized, “the first objective will certainly be to remain in the SuperLega, with the desire to aspire to something more important: the 5th-place playoffs aren’t the best, but if we managed to secure a position to compete for the Scudetto, it would be a good result. I’m happy that the club has confirmed the Fanizza-Barotto diagonal; it’s important to have a setter and opposite hitter who know each other and are improving together. But it’s too early to talk about it now; I’ll try to make my experience and my thoughts available to the group and the staff, as well as, of course, the court in the strictest sense of the word. Even though I’m no longer a kid, I still have a great desire to play and to grow together.” Cisterna Volley”.
The future is set. Taking a step back, Daniele Mazzone takes stock of the season now behind us: “We achieved our goal, but we could have done much more. One grade: a passing grade, which is always given when you achieve the bare minimum. Considering that we were so new, so young, and even the staff was just starting out, a season like the one we just ended was understandable. That’s why I say we’ll have to think differently next season. It was important to finish with two teams behind us: we survived on our own merits, not because we were the least of the least bad. Personally, I had a good first half of the season; I’m not entirely satisfied with the second half. But the beauty of this sport is always having the opportunity to do better. And I repeat, I’m delighted to be able to prove it in Cisterna.”
