After hiring Pietro Melato as the second-choice spiker, Belluno Volley is expanding its spikers department. They are welcoming Marco Cantagalli: born in Reggio Emilia on May 15, 2002, he is the second new addition to the team ahead of the Serie A2 championship.
FAMILY – Raised on volleyball, he brings with him a significant legacy. His father, Luca, is a symbol of Julio Velasco’s “Generation of Phenomena,” while his older brother, Diego, has ten seasons in Serie A under his belt. It almost goes without saying how such an environment has instilled in Marco a culture of work and a deep understanding of a sport he has lived daily since childhood.
PATH – Cantagalli is already familiar with Serie A2, a category he will compete in in 2022-2023 with Conad Reggio Emilia. He subsequently continued his journey in Serie A3, playing for WiMore Salsomaggiore Terme and Ancona. He also stood out with Salsomaggiore at the VHV Arena: as an opponent, on November 12, 2023, he scored 16 points (and three service winners) against the white-and-blues, demonstrating both technical skill and personality. Last year, he played in Serie B in Corigliano, coming close to promotion after a tournament he played as a key figure.
CHOICE – The opportunity to land in the shadow of the Dolomites was welcomed with a smile: “I chose Belluno Volley for its solidity and the passion that permeates the atmosphere. I can’t wait to meet everyone and begin this new adventure.” The spiker puts the team at the top of his priorities: “I consider myself a charismatic player, adaptable to different positions when needed, and always focused on instilling energy and calmness in the team.” A predisposition that emerges even away from Taraflex: “I’m a cheerful guy who enjoys being in company and spending time with friends.”
ENTHUSIASM – Now the horizon is A2: a stimulating stage, full of challenges, but also opportunities: “Thanks to the team and a top-level club, I aim to improve further. We know a difficult season awaits us, but we will face it with deep enthusiasm and great energy.” Belluno thus adds another piece to its roster, bringing in a motivated athlete whose growth potential is yet to be explored.
