For the fifteenth season in total, Campi Reali Cantù will be competing in the Credem Banca Serie A Championships. However, unlike previous seasons, and reflecting the recent results of the season, the Cantù team will be competing in the Credem Banca Serie A3, the third national division, for the first time in its history.
WORDS FROM PRESIDENT AMBROGIO MOLTENI
About a month after the end of the championship, and despite various appeals for new sponsors and fresh blood to continue competing in the A2 Serie, nothing new has emerged. If I had to make a conscious decision, I would have to decline the challenge. But, as I have always done throughout my life, heart and passion have led to the decision to enter the team in the Credem Banca Serie A3 championship next year, which is the division to which we are entitled. This is a decision based on continuity, aimed at enhancing our youth sector and providing it with a top-tier team to aspire to in the future.
I have received confirmation of Campi Reali’s sponsorship for next season as well, and for this I sincerely thank Dr. Andrea Tullii and his brother, Dr. Carmine Tullii. I hope that with our friends at BCC Cantù, which has lasted more than thirty years, we can continue our relationship, hoping, as always, to add some new sponsors to make our team more competitive.
Rumors are circulating that three teams have dropped out of Serie A2 (out of 14 participating teams—but so far, the only one to have officially withdrawn from the category is Romeo Sorrento, ed.). It’s clear that economic factors are impacting several teams in the past, including those in the Superleague. We could be among those eligible for Serie A2, but I believe, given our current budget, it’s unrealistic, with costs more than double our budget, to rejoin the second national division. Instead, I’d like to try to build a new team, including some promising youngsters, that can tackle the challenging Serie A3 championship. All this considering that costs continue to rise, with teams that have very high budgets and are therefore already ready for the jump to Serie A2. Consequently, a significant portion of the costs will fall on my family again this year.
