Cuneo Volley has made its first signing, bringing Leandro Mosca to the white-and-blues.
The middle blocker from the Marche region has been called up to the senior national team after a season of stardom in Monza. The 2022 World Champion, born in 2000, has worked hard after a long injury-related layoff, with the sole goal of giving his all and returning to the national team.
Regarding Leandro’s arrival, Sporting Director Paolo Brugiafreddo had this to say: “I believe that with Mosca’s arrival, Cuneo has significantly raised the quality of the position. He’s a young man with a very promising past, but also very unlucky, as the injuries he’s suffered were clearly pure bad luck. However, last season he showed he’s put this difficult period behind him. We began to take an interest in him because we saw his enormous growth during the season, his determination, his motivation, and finally, above all, we were struck by his great desire to wear our jersey and compete in the Cuneo community.” He brings us significant height, ambition, and personal motivation that we’re sure he’ll be able to pass on to the team. We truly believe he can be a key element in our new season.”
“Every time I played against Cuneo, I thought about how much I’d love to experience the cheering in this arena; now I can’t wait to inspire them from the field!” – these were Leandro Mosca’s first words in white and blue.
Today’s news: he’s been called up to the first Italian training camp of the year, scheduled for Monday, May 11th, to Sunday, May 17th, at the “Giulio Onesti” Olympic Training Center in Acqua Acetosa: “To be honest, it’s been my goal ever since I got injured two years ago before the Olympics. I’ll try to give my best for the Italian national team, but for me, just being called up is already a victory.”
A season like the one just ended, what goals does it drive you to for the next one in Cuneo? “This year was a new beginning, and I’m happy to have had the chance to play so much. Now I’m full of confidence and I have the goal of always doing better.”
What are your first impressions after speaking with the management and staff?
“I’ve already spoken with the sporting director and coach, I still have to speak with the president, but it’s always nice to get to know a new environment; it’s very stimulating for me.”
Hoping to see him involved with the national team during the Azzurri season, we’ll see him at the gym for his first appearance on the pitch as a white-and-blue!
