Domotek Volley defeated Acqui Terme at home and took a 1-0 lead in the semifinal series. It was a tough, hard-fought victory, built point by point. Amaranth libero Saverio De Santis spoke after the match, analyzing the performance and delivering a message to fans ahead of Game 2, scheduled for May 1st at 8:00 PM at Palacalafiore.

De Santis began his story honestly: the feeling of playing on a different court than usual. “Yes, it was strange playing in Valenza, a different venue, especially because we’ve played so many matches in Reggio Emilia and against Reggio Emilia,” the libero explained. “They, as we knew, proved to be a very tough team to face. They were very good, especially in the second set, at giving us a hard time. We did well in the break phase, scoring important points. So we return to the gym with the same smile and the same desire to do well, because we have a final to reach.”

The series, however, is only just beginning. “Nothing is guaranteed, every ball is hot. We’re back on track for a new, very important series, with another trophy in the bag.”

How about the Piedmontese team compared to last season? According to De Santis, there’s a leap in quality. “They definitely have a player, the strong Argenta, a player in another category. He’s proven it. They’re more or less the same team with this extra player that we’ll need to keep at home because they’ll come with the desire to reach a final, as they already did in Gioia del Colle.”

The next match is May 1st, at 8:00 PM at the PalaCalafiore. A special date, Labor Day, which De Santis wants to turn into an Amaranth celebration. “We’re expecting all the fans, who are always fierce. We want a packed PalaCalafiore because, as I said before, there’s a final to be won, which would be ‘a lot’.”
A thought also goes to Reggio’s other outstanding team: Reggio Bic, newly crowned European champions after winning the Eurocup 2. “We congratulate Reggio Bic on this success. We hope that other Reggio sports clubs will also achieve similar results, and we also hope for an “amaranth treble” for ourselves. It’s premature to say that now. There’s time, we just have to fight ball by ball.”
