Domotek Volley continues to write Italian volleyball history. After Monte’s Serie A3 Italian Cup triumph, the Reggio team reopened their trophy cabinet and also won the Del Monte Super Cup, defeating Reggio Emilia 3-2 in a thrilling final. A victory that feels like a feat, legendary, and sensational.

“Epic, historic, crazy” – these were the first words of captain Domenico Laganà, the de facto protagonist and symbol of a night no fan will forget. A final that bears a striking resemblance to the Italian Cup victory against Belluno, but with an even crazier plot. This is the seventh time the two teams have faced each other in the playoffs and cup competitions, and the perfect ending could only be a spectacular 3-2, played point-for-point, heart-to-heart.

“We know each other by heart,” Laganà explained immediately after the match, “and it was right to end such a long series with a 3-2 win like this. In my opinion, it was simply spectacular.”

The match featured a 1-0 Conad lead, a 2-1 victory for Domotek, and then a wild, crazy fourth set where everything happened. But coach Polimeni’s boys had the strength to reset, returning to the court in the fifth set with the same determination seen in the second and third. The Italian Taraflex, the one that had brought luck in the Italian Cup, did its job this time too. Even though, as the captain himself admitted, “there’s a bit of a bitter taste in the mouth from the three games played here in the playoffs, but this is a trophy we’ve won, we’re taking it home. And as a Reggio native, I enjoy it more than anyone.”
