Cesare Pellegrino can’t hide his emotion. The Sporting Director of Domotek Volley is the living embodiment of joy and liberation after winning the Coppa Italia Del Monte in Serie A3. A triumph that came at the end of a thrilling final against the mighty Conad Reggio Emilia, won by overcoming a two-set deficit.
“First of all, it’s wonderful, everything we’ve experienced from yesterday until now, right up to this moment, with this welcome at the airport,” Pellegrino began, still visibly shaken by the wave of warmth from the home crowd.
His victory tastes like personal revenge, but it also carries the spirit of history for the entire region. “It was a very difficult victory, a match that almost ended 2-0 down, and we came back with the determination, especially of the boys, who played brilliantly,” the sports director analyzed, retracing the critical moments of the match.
The key to success, according to Pellegrino, was mental strength: “In volleyball, nothing is ever taken for granted; the match ends when it ends. We were able to get back into it calmly, without nerves, playing our game, and they certainly weren’t expecting our reaction.”
