It’s still hard to find the right words to describe the emotion. In the packed arena of 7,000, with player posters waving like the flags of a victorious army, Domotek Reggio Calabria has completed a perfect circle: a treble (Coppa Italia, Super Cup, and promotion to Serie A2).
A triumphant run capped by Game 3, in front of a huge crowd against Belluno. Team Manager Mirko Crucitti, still visibly moved and shaken by a historic victory, explained the soul of this feat.
Crucitti answers the questions with his voice breaking with emotion, but with eyes that sparkle like those of someone who has climbed every mountain. “Yes, it’s easy to say,” he begins, “but as I retraced all the stages of this season, where we truly climbed the rankings, overcoming every obstacle game after game, it was thrilling to say the least. We played 32 games, which is a lot for a volleyball team. Physically, we held up, our voices may be fading now, but otherwise, it was an indescribable joy. Here in Reggio, in our arena, it was a great celebration. Clearly, it was meant to be this way.”
After Game 1 at the PalaBenvenuti and Game 2 in Veneto, the script seemed already written. But Crucitti isn’t a fan of banality: ”
It wasn’t just the result that was impressive, but the setting. 7,000 spectators, thrilling chants, a choreography that rivals the grand stages of the Super League. There were posters with the faces of the players entering the field,” Crucitti recalls, “an atmosphere worthy of a Super League, and more. It was all the result of meticulous work. It’s beautiful.”
