Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza’s quest for the Italian title came to an end on Sunday in Perugia at the end of Game 3. The Club World Champions and the Club European Champions closed the match in three games. A patched-up Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza held their own against their opponents before finally giving up.
Elisabetta Curti (President of Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza): “I am deeply proud of this group: although the final result did not reward us, the human value and commitment demonstrated—and not only during this week marked by a full-blown emergency—were exemplary and worthy of the utmost respect. Kudos to Perugia: a team composed of great, determined, and relentless professionals, to whom I extend my sincere best wishes for future challenges.
However, I believe this is also the right time for a broader reflection, involving the entire movement. It is difficult to understand the decision to schedule three semifinal matches in just seven days: a scheduling that failed to protect the athletes’ physical integrity, depriving them of any real chance of recovery and ultimately undermining, at least in part, the significant financial efforts our club makes every day. Such a structure not only prevents adequate physical recovery, but also exponentially increases the risk of injury, ultimately risking discouraging those who, with dedication and sacrifice, continue to invest resources and passion in the sports system.”
