The successes and satisfactions continue for the Perugiayouth sector, which reached another milestone last night: the Sir Under-19 team, led by Mericat, became regional champions! They did so with authority, away at the Palarota in Spoleto, winning the regional final with a resounding 3-0 victory over Mission Group School Volley Perugia. The young Block Devils won the first two sets, 25-23, and the second, in deuce, 33-31, before sealing the deal in the third set, which they won by a comfortable margin (25-18).

The Sir Under-19 team, which has been working diligently since September, is made up of players who primarily play in the club’s Serie B, along with others from Serie C and Tesone, a talented player from the Juventus youth academy, who currently plays for San Giustino in Serie A3.

The starting six for yesterday’s final consisted of the setter-opposite pairing Cassieri and Bertoia, the spikers Giovagnoli and Gallinella, the middle blockers Tamagnini and Mecarelli, and the libero Alessandro Cassieri.

“It’s a team that, for obvious reasons, only stays together for matches, but this is also a source of double satisfaction because nothing can ever be taken for granted,” commented Juventus Youth Technical Director Andrea Piacentini. “We began this journey knowing that it’s a mostly “small” group (many were born in 2009 and 2010) and that they compete in two youth leagues (Under-19 and Under-17). The goal was to help them grow in training with the Serie B group and then see how they perform in their respective youth leagues. I wanted to split the two groups, giving Marco Ferraro the management of the 19th race to give more value to the work we do in the gym: Marco and I with the B team, Arcangeli with the C team, and Taba with the other C team, which Tittarelli is part of. And the value was evident yesterday.
