The 2026 summer transfer window for Itas Trentino men’s basketball team boasts another arrival directly from Serie A2. Following the signing of setter Zonta from Porto Viro, Trentino Volley has recently finalized the signing of 22-year-old spiker Federico Roberti.
A native of Fano, he began playing for the local club Virtus in 2016 and has remained there ever since, with the exception of a brief stint in 2018 with Cucine Lube, where he won the Boy League (Under 14). He is one of the Italian players who has stood out most in recent seasons in the cadet league, where he has played for the past two years after earning promotion from Serie A3 on the court. His stats show 634 points in 55 matches played in Serie A2, a tournament in which he stood out not only for his offensive performance, but also for his significant contributions in reception and serving. His ability to offer quality in all areas is precisely what convinced the Gialloblù club to offer him a two-year contract, allowing him to be noticed by the federal coaches. Roberti is currently in Cavalese working with the second group alongside Lavia and Sbertoli, strengthening a relationship with the Azzurri that dates back a long time. The Marche native has often been a key figure in the youth teams, winning, among other things, a European Under-21 Championship in 2022, a silver medal at the Under-21 World Championship in 2023, and a silver medal at the Under-22 European Championship in 2024. He will make his SuperLega debut in October, proving to be an interesting addition to the Gialloblù squad in position 4.
“I’m delighted and excited to join a prestigious and important club like Trentino Volley, whom I thank for their trust in me,” said Federico Roberti, his first words as a yellow-blue player. “What awaits me here in Trento will be a very important experience for my career because for the first time I’ll be playing in the SuperLega and leaving Fano, where I grew up. It will be like starting volleyball university: I’ll try to make the most of every moment to improve. I’ll have to grow a lot to be able to keep up with the level of this championship; in Serie A2, I was considered a balanced player, reliable in reception, the key area where I feel most ready to help the team. I’ll be reunited with Gabriele Laurenzano, with whom I shared so much experience with the youth national teams.”
