All’s well that continues well. Delta Volley Porto Viro announces the extension of Jan Klobucar’s contract: the Slovenian spiker, a true turning point in the second half of last season, will also be available to coach Matteo Bologna for the upcoming Serie A2 Credem Banca championship.
Born in 1992, 196 centimeters tall, Klobucar arrived in Porto Viro in January during the transfer window, immediately becoming a starter and making a significant contribution to the Polesine team’s rise in the standings. His numbers speak for themselves: 244 points scored in just 15 games between the Regular Season and Playoffs, bringing his career total to 679 points in 177 matches played in Serie A2.
This isn’t Klobucar’s first stint in the Italian second division; in 2018/2019 he played for Piacenza, winning the Playoffs and the Italian Cup, and in 2024/2025 for Fano. A three-time European runner-up (2015, 2019, and 2021) with the Slovenian national team, the Celje-born center back also boasts four league titles and five Slovenian Cups, in addition to experience in the top leagues of Poland, Germany, and France. Between national and club, he has amassed 327 points in 142 appearances in various European competitions organized by the CEV.
Thanks to his refined technique and his ability to convey calm and confidence even in the most delicate moments, Klobucar has earned the trust and respect of the entire black-and-fuchsia environment in just a few months. President Veronese’s contract renewal with the club was almost a natural consequence: “I can say there was a really good feeling right from the start. In Porto Viro, I felt very comfortable with the club, my teammates, the fans, and the entire atmosphere. That’s why I wanted to continue here. The second half of last season left a lasting impression on me, both sportingly and personally: I found a dedicated group, an organized club, and a community that embraces volleyball with great passion. Feeling part of the team right away was important, and I believe this continuity will be a valuable asset for next season as well.”
