The jersey will always be number 10, and Filippo Lanza will still be there in position 4. Cisterna Volley wanted him, and the 1991-born spiker said yes: the renewal is the natural consequence of a strong bond, based on mutual respect, on the desire to write (together) a new page in the history of Cisterna Volley. The 2026-2027 season will be “Pippo’s” 16th in the SuperLega: he’s won everything there was to win in his career, but at 35 (which he turned in March), he still has a strong desire to play, dedicating himself to the team and the club.
“Cisterna was my first choice, and not for a second did I consider an alternative. The club renewed their faith in me, and the rest came naturally. I’m happy here, working with a young project that I liked right away, following a growth path based on hard work and planning. Last season, during the negotiations, the club told me about the plan, and then in reality it was like that. Words were followed by actions.”
Actions, not words, are Filippo Lanza’s work (and life) model too. “I can’t say right now if next year will be my last as a volleyball player. It could be, maybe not! It depends on how I feel at the end of the season: to continue, many things will have to coincide, from physical to mental fitness, with the knowledge that I can play at my best.”
