The final round of the Superleague Championship is drawing ever closer. Perugia and Civitanova, who met in the semifinals last season, will face each other this year in the most exciting series of all, the one that decides the Scudetto!
In their third meeting of the season in this Superleague Championship, the two teams will meet again in Game 1, four months after their last match. The last meeting between Cucine Lube Civitanova and Sir Susa Scai Perugia dates back to the sixth day of the second half of the regular season, at the Eurosuole Forum. The match was won by the Block Devils, led by the day’s MVP, spiker Kamil Semeniuk, who finished with 16 points, an ace, and a block. From nine meters, Juventus captain Simone Giannelli was particularly lethal, hitting three aces with only one service error in 21 serves.
On the Marche side of the court, Bulgarian spiker Aleksandar Nikolov was the only player in double figures, but he had impressive numbers: 19 points, an ace, and a block.
The Bianconeri are working daily in preparation for the opening match of this Final! Training is divided between the weights room and the taraflex, with a focus on the Marche team. Tomorrow morning, the Block Devils also have check-ups with the nutritionist scheduled before the gym session, and in the afternoon, another technical-tactical workout on the court.
The work is intense and with the awareness of the solidity of a united and cohesive group, focused directly on the goal, with the ability to face even the difficult moments the players may face, as is normal in a Scudetto Final. This is an aspect that has been emphasized on several occasions by Juventus’ Ukrainian spiker, Oleh Plotnytskyi: “Our strength is that we always remain a ‘team’ regardless of what happens on the court; whether we’re down or up, in the end we always try to get back into the game and find our rhythm. And the important thing is that we all do it together.”
We’re fast approaching a Final that, once again, pits two top teams against each other, two teams that know each other well and boast players of undisputed quality. All of this will make the show even more compelling, as the Argentine middle blocker for the home team Sir Susa Scai Perugia, Sebastian Solè, predicts: “For me, the Lube-Perugia Final is a match that has come up often in recent years, so it’s definitely a great Final and it will certainly be very difficult!”
