Avimec Modica, fresh from four consecutive victories (Sabaudia, Lecce, Gioia del Colle, and Terni), enjoyed a weekend without competitive fixtures. The team took advantage of the Serie A3 championship’s suspension, which is being held for the Coppa Italia Final Four in Belluno, to catch their breath and prepare for the final rush of the regular season, which concludes on Sunday, March 15th with a home match against Napoli, before heading into the promotion playoffs.
The team has continued to work hard this week and will continue to do so until this afternoon, when coach Enzo Distefano will give his players a break at the end of the afternoon session, granting them three days of rest.
Meanwhile, with the bowls suspended, general manager Luca Leocata is taking stock of the Modica team’s season, looking confidently towards the promotion playoffs.
“It’s definitely a positive outcome,” explains Luca Leocata, “in a very short championship where the margin for error is minimal. The only disappointment was the start of the season, when we struggled to find the right balance. Then the group came together and began to increasingly believe in their individual and team abilities, and they began to perform at a high level, and the results are there for all to see. It’s a shame we weren’t able to finish the season on the podium, but,” he continues, “we’re still in the running to try to improve on our current fifth-place finish. We still have the home game against Napoli to finish the regular season, which we want to finish with a positive result and then focus on the playoffs. We’re happy with how the season ended,” concludes Luca Leocata, “and with how the team is working in harmony with the coaching staff. We’re confident about the future that awaits us, where we, as management, are also ready to give our all until the end.”
Meanwhile, having learned of the untimely passing of Christian Cesario, press officer for JV Gioia del Colle, at just 33 years old, the management, technical staff, athletes, and press office of Avimec Modica extend their deepest sympathies to the family and the entire JV Gioa del Colle, offering them their deepest condolences.
