A new week of work has begun in Perugia, preparing for the Scudetto Finals, which will kick off with Game 1 on Thursday evening, April 30th, at the Perugia stadium.
The opponent, as of last Saturday, has a name: Cucine Lube Civitanova will share the final stage with Sir Susa Scai Perugia, the most thrilling and emotionally charged one of the entire season: a stage at the end of which, one of the two teams will win the Scudetto!
The Block Devils reached this final stage of the season after wrapping up both the quarterfinal series with Monza and the semifinal series with Piacenza in three games, with the final match played on Sunday, April 12th at the PalaBarton. Lube, on the other hand, wrapped up the series against Rana Verona last Saturday evening, in front of their home crowd. And they did so with a comeback, winning three consecutive games, after the Venetians’ Game 1 victory at home.
At Juventus, captain Simone Giannelli described the current state of play at this new start to a typical week: “We’re incredibly happy to have reached this point, because we’ve always said it’s great to reach the final stages of competitions, so we’ve done it in both competitions, both the Champions League and the league. So, I am and we are happy with what we’ve done, but rightly so, we now need to focus on what remains to be done and what will come next, because what has happened no longer matters. The final against Civitanova has now been decided, we know the quality of our opponent, the quality of the club we’re playing against: they’re a club that always manages to reach the final stages of competitions and therefore knows how to deal with these periods, but we know how to do it too, so I expect a great final! As I said about the semi-final, the level is raised even further. The further you go, the higher the level, so for us players, for me but for everyone, it’s very, very stimulating to play against strong players, so I can’t wait for it to begin!” Now we have a period in which we still have a few days to prepare ourselves physically, to put a little more fuel in our muscles, and then we’ll start again!
