There are players who travel to pursue a career. And others who, by traveling, broaden their worldview. Nicola Iannelli undoubtedly belongs to the latter category. Belluno Volley’s new libero brings with him experience, skills, and a natural curiosity that, over the years, has pushed him beyond Italy’s borders in search of new sporting and personal challenges. The twenty-seven-year-old native of Bologna will be a key figure in the white-and-blue second line in the Serie A2 championship.
WORLD – His career tells the story of an athlete who has never stopped learning. From his two years in Modena, under Andrea Giani, to the United States, where he played for St. Francis College, and then in England with the Durham Palatinates. These experiences allowed him to explore different cultures and approaches to the sport. This led to his arrival at Volley Team Club San Donà di Piave and, last season, at Virtus Fano, where he played a high-level Serie A2 championship. And he met coach Vincenzo Mastrangelo.
MEMORY – In reality, the Rhinos had already entered his life: “When I returned to Italy, my first match was in Belluno, when I wore the San Donà jersey. I have wonderful memories of the atmosphere and the fans: I felt at home at the VHV Arena.” An impression that has remained vivid over time and influenced his decision to defend the white-blue colors. “The emotional component played its part. Furthermore, President Sandro Da Rold’s club is solid and respected, where you can clearly sense the trust placed in the players. Not to mention the bond with the fans, sincere and unshakeable: even in the most difficult moments.”
