Padua is the past, Verona is the present. Cisterna Volley (having filed away the tie-break loss Sunday at the Kioene Arena) will return to work tomorrow (yesterday and today were off) to prepare for their next match: Sunday, January 25th at the PalaSport on Via Delle Province (6:00 PM) against Rana. The point earned in Padua allowed Morato’s team (11 points in the standings) to extend their lead over bottom-placed Grottazzolina (who were beaten in Piacenza and are seven points behind), taking another step toward relegation. The margin isn’t enough to celebrate their mathematical survival in the SuperLega, but it does allow them to approach the rest of the championship with greater confidence.

Efe Bayram: “We played good volleyball in Padua, starting very well. We slowed down in the second set, lost the third on details, then came a significant response: we lacked the decisive push in the tie break, and it’s disappointing not to have won because it was a match within our reach. However, it was important to come home with a point. On Sunday, we face Verona, a very capable team, one of the strongest in this championship.
