Mattia Boninfante’s experience as a setter for Cucine Lube Civitanova comes to a close after a thrilling two-year stint with surprising results. Hired as part of the roster rejuvenation project, the Venetian athlete contributed to the 2024/25 Del Monte® Coppa Italia victory and reached two consecutive Scudetto Finals and the 2025 Challenge Cup Final with the club. Last summer, the 2004-born player also received a highly coveted personal award, the Gianfranco Badiali Award, as the best Under-23 athlete of the 2024/25 top-flight tournament. Despite a mixed 2025/26 Regular Season, Mattia and his teammates returned to the top in the playoffs, fighting for the Italian title until the last ball.
Mattia Boninfante’s greeting:
“I would have hardly thought I’d be able to play at such a young age for such a prestigious club. I’ve been a key player in matches and victories that I’ll always remember. I’ve given my all every day, sometimes reaping the rewards and other times not. I understand and accept this because these dynamics are part of sport and life. My thanks go to everyone I’ve met along the way, people who have helped me become a better man and player than I was two years ago. Sharing this experience with all of you has been a pleasure! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”
A.S. Volley Lube thanks Mattia for his dedication and professionalism. Best wishes to the athlete for a future full of success and victories.
