As part of the school project, a delegation from Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza attended a meeting this morning with about fifty second-year students from the “Vittorio Alfieri” Middle School in Rivergaro, held at the Casa del Popolo Auditorium in Rivergaro.

Coordinated by Vittorino Francani, Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza’s school project coordinator, and Deputy Headmistress Elisabetta Fanzola, and attended by Marco Sala, Councilor for Sport for the Municipality of Rivergaro, the meeting lasted for an hour. Elia Aquino, born in 2009, opposite hitter, and Davide Filagrana, born in 2010, middle blocker, both players from the Biancorossa youth team; Matteo Antonucci and Francesco Caminiti, the former’s youth team coach; and Gabriele Camisa and Giovanni Maria Monteverdi, athletes from the Biancorossa Sitting Volleyball team, spoke to the young students.

“Be curious,” emphasized Deputy Headmistress Elisabetta Fanzola, “because today you have the opportunity to gain a firsthand understanding of the world of sports, and volleyball in particular. This is an excellent opportunity to hear from young people who are just a few years older than you, about their experiences and how inclusive sport is.”

Councilor for Sport Marco Sala, delivering greetings from the Mayor, urged the students to “ask, listen, and fully embrace this experience by asking questions.” Matteo Antonucci and Francesco Caminiti discussed the role of a youth coach, how championships and training are conducted, and then spoke about how young people like Aquino and Filagrana work hard to thrive in the sport they love.

“We’re trying to help our kids realize their dream: playing in the SuperLega. The experience,” Matteo Antonucci emphasized, “that we want to share with all of you is that dreams can come true starting with simple things. Each of you can start working towards your dream. I’m talking about volleyball, but there are other disciplines, other dreams that can be achieved with determination.”

Several topics were discussed during the meeting: from how to play Sitting Volleyball to nutrition, to the importance of teamwork.

Elia Aquindo, seventeen, is an opposite hitter and attends the Hotel Management School. He played soccer until he was 12, then after a training session he decided to play volleyball; he’s a member of the red and white Under-17 team.
