The first week of the Volleyball Nations League featured several Modena Volley players, who, with their respective national teams, participated in the first stages of the traveling tournament.
New signing Nik Mujanović was one of the standout performers in the first week of the VNL. With the Slovenian national team playing in Linyi, China, the Modena Volley opposite hitter delivered a remarkable performance in the victory against Poland, scoring 37 points, his fourth-highest all-time in the competition. Thanks to excellent performances in the other three matches against China, Cuba, and Japan, Mujanović now sits second in the Volleyball Nations League scoring charts.
Two players from the yellow and blue team are competing in the first week of the VNL: Luca Porro and Pardo Mati. The yellow and blue spiker appeared in three of Italy’s four matches, scoring a total of 51 points. A total of 23 points were scored in the victory against the United States, where he finished as the match’s top scorer. Pardo Mati made an excellent debut for the senior national team, scoring 11 points in the opening VNL match against France. After the first week of the VNL played in Ottawa, Italy is in fourth place in the overall standings with 9 points, the result of three wins out of four matches.
Amir Tizi-Oualou’s France also played in Ottawa: the yellow-blue setter played an excellent match against the Italy team featuring his teammates Porro and Mati, but found little playing time in subsequent matches.
