After closing out the regular season last night with a resounding three-set victory over Grottazzolina in front of their home crowd, the Bianconeri team departed this morning for Trieste, where the Super Cup Final Four will take place on Saturday and Sunday.
The Block Devils will face coach Marcelo Mendez’s Itas Trentino in the first of two semifinals, scheduled for Saturday, February 28th at 3:30 PM. Following that, Cucine Lube Civitanova and Rana Verona will battle it out for a spot in the final on Sunday, March 1st at 3:00 PM.
Both semifinals promise to be thrilling: on the one hand, a classic, as Trento and Perugia are historic Super Cup opponents, as demonstrated by the seven previous meetings between the two teams, with six semifinal encounters. For Rana Verona and Cucine Lube Civitanova, however, this will be their first face-off in this tournament, being the first time the Verona team, led this year by coach Fabio Soli, has participated.

Yesterday’s match, the final day of the regular season, while insignificant in terms of points, was an excellent way to maintain the pace of the game, considering the absences on the Juventus roster, which currently prevent the players from playing 6-on-6 at full strength. Juventus coach Angelo Lorenzetti emphasized this: “We needed to get into a bit of a rhythm so we can compete on Saturday. We have a little bit now, so we’re doing the right thing in practice, and whatever the boys do, they do with quality. However, playing 6-on-6 was also good for those who had never played before.”
