As part of the school project, a delegation from Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza attended a meeting this morning with over two hundred students from the “Giuseppe Petrarca” Middle School in Pontenure, held at the “Chicchi e Baccelli” Auditorium.
Coordinated by Vittorino Francani, Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza’s school project coordinator, Vice Principal Romina Bertuzzi, and Elena Valenti, Head of Physical Education, the meeting lasted over an hour. Simone Leombroni, born in 2008, spiker, and Gabriele Russo, born in 2009, spiker, both players from the Biancorossa youth team, Francesco Caminiti, youth team coach, Giuseppe Siddiolo, and Vincenzo Gagliardi, athlete and assistant coach of the Biancorossa Sitting Volleyball team, spoke to the young students.
“It’s very important to talk about sports,” emphasized Vice Principal Romina Bertuzzi, “and today is a great opportunity for all of you. In sports, but also in life, the important thing is being a team, that is, working together to achieve goals. Victories are important, but often it’s defeats that teach us the most about achieving victories.”
Francesco Caminiti spoke about the role of a youth coach, how championships and training are conducted, and then spoke about how young people like Leombroni and Russo came to Piacenza, leaving home and friends to pursue their dream of playing in the SuperLega.
“These two young people,” Francesco Caminiti emphasized, “come from far away, live in a guesthouse, and make sacrifices to achieve their goal. Each of you can start playing volleyball and work towards your dream.”
A variety of topics were discussed during the meeting: from how to play Sitting Volleyball to nutrition, to the importance of teamwork.
Simone Leombroni, born in Abruzzo in 2008, is a spiker who plays in Serie C and the Under-19 team. He emphasized, “Volleyball requires sacrifice, but if you do it with passion, it gives you great emotions. I’m happy here in Piacenza. Living away from home was difficult at first, but then you get used to it, especially if you build a good team.”
