Abba Pineto is the second finalist in the Credem Banca Serie A2 Playoffs: thanks to a 3-0 victory in Game 3 against Virtus Aversa, the Abruzzo team advances to the finals, where they will face Tinet Prata of Pordenone.
It was a match full of excitement and dramatic twists, starting with a virtually endless first set that ended with a 39-37 victory for the home team (the highest-scoring set of the season in Serie A2 and the tenth highest in the category’s history).

Simone Di Tommaso’s team is the one to celebrate: after a record-breaking first set, the Abruzzo team charged forward, finishing the remaining two sets with a comfortable lead over their Norman rivals. Abba setter Mattia Catone, making his 100th appearance in Serie A2, sent Paolo Luigi Di Silvestre (12 and his 2,000th winning attack in the category), Antonino Suraci (17), and Matheus Krauchuk (15) into double figures. On the other side of the net, Gianluca Graziosi’s team relied primarily on the scoring of Juan Felipe Benavides (20), with Marco Volpato (11) also in double figures.
This was an unprecedented matchup for a Serie A2 Playoff Final between Abba Pineto and Tinet Prata di Pordenone, as neither team has ever managed to advance so far in the draw.
