One of the world’s most important volleyball events is upon us. The tour de force to win the 80th Scudetto of the SuperLega Credem Banca is drawing to a close, and we’re getting closer and closer to knowing the team that will lift the trophy. Tomorrow, Thursday, April 30th, the SuperLega Credem Banca Scudetto Finals kick off.

The final act of the tournament will see the teams face off in the “classic” match between Sir Susa Scai Perugia and Cucine Lube Civitanova, teams who will be facing each other for the sixth time in a series of Italian Championship Finals. This matchup will make it the most contested Final in the history of the Scudetto Playoffs.

This season, the team from the Marche region has had a tough time against the Umbrian team, who won both their Regular Season matches and prevailed at home in the one-off quarterfinal match of the Del Monte® Coppa Italia. The National Final represents a crucial step in the Bianconeri’s season, having won the Club World Cup, the Del Monte® Super Cup, and the Regular Season, and are now looking forward to a CEV Champions League title in the Final Four in Turin after last year’s success. On the other side of the net, Lube has raised the level of its play, albeit with an up-and-down performance in a regular season that ended in sixth place, while its European campaign came to a screeching halt in the CEV Champions League Quarterfinals. Reaching the Scudetto Final has already secured a challenging season.

In the 2026 Playoffs, Perugia is undefeated thanks to series victories against Monza and Piacenza, despite being without the injured Agustin Loser at center. Civitanova, meanwhile, eliminated Trento, the defending Italian champions, from the Scudetto race in three games and repeated their feat by overcoming Verona in four matches after losing Game 1 in three sets at the Arena.

Two top players are ready to celebrate their 400th SuperLega game: Sebastian Solé (15 points away from 600 in the playoffs) for Sir, and captain Fabio Balaso for Lube. Other records are on the horizon for the Block Devils: Wassim Ben Tara is 12 points shy of 500 for the season and 1,500 in the SuperLega, all with Perugia. Kamil Semeniuk is chasing his 100th SuperLega point, while Mattia Bottolo, for Lube, is looking for the points that separate him from overtaking Simone Rosalba in the all-time top scorers rankings for the team from the Marche region.
