With the season over, it’s time for Viridex Sabaudia to analyze the season finale, which left some disappointment in the Pontine area. The start brought interesting results, but in the second half of the season, things didn’t go as planned, and there were some setbacks that prevented the club from reaching its goals.
Sporting director Paolo Torre doesn’t hide his disappointment with the outcome: “The end of the season was one to forget, because from every perspective, we saw a clear decline,” explains the Pontine club’s manager. “The approach, both in training and in the playoff matches, wasn’t what we expected, especially at a time when it was important for the club to try and move forward.”
The drop in the standings and the defeat in the Coppa Italia Final Four semifinal, given how they unfolded, didn’t sit well with the sporting director, who analyzed the situation.
“There’s great disappointment because we thought we had what it takes to achieve something more, but in light of the results and what we’ve seen on the pitch in this final stretch, few are safe, and this is a shame, because the work done throughout the year by the club and staff was geared precisely toward being ready for this decisive moment,” Paolo Torre concludes. “This is a lesson we must learn from. It’s disappointing because everyone is paying the price for this outcome, but at the same time, it must be a starting point for building something better for the future: we’re already hard at work planning next season with the goal of continuing the growth we have in mind.”
