Three, like the number of games Sir Susa Scai played in, finishing in a best-of-five series across all three stages of the playoffs, from the quarterfinals against Monza, to the semifinals against Piacenza, to this final against Lube. Three, the number of Scudetti won by President Gino Sirci’s club, three… like the trophies already secured this season that… isn’t over yet!
What an unforgettable night in Perugia! The black and white club continues to break records, writing and rewriting history and repeating great feats, something not everyone can achieve, something… only great people can!
And so, exactly eight years after that May 6, 2018, once again at their home stadium and once again against Lube, Sir Susa Scai Perugia has written another important chapter not only in their history, but also in the history of volleyball as a whole!
Game 3 of the Scudetto Final offered intense excitement, the thrills of a match that started off uphill for the Block Devils, facing a Lube team that, with its arms unrestrained and its back to the wall, began by pushing hard on serve and displaying its best volleyball, with Nikolov being particularly lethal in attack (he would finish the match with 25 points) and Mattia Bottolo effective and incisive from nine meters. The first set was won by the visitors, and then, as had happened in game two at the Eurosuole Forum, the Bianconeri fought back, with Angelo Lorenzetti’s men managing to get back into the game even when trailing, playing as a team and with their heads. It’s a victory that demonstrates the great maturity of the entire team, a victory all the more beautiful because it was achieved in front of their home crowd, on a Wednesday night that will remain unforgettable.
It’s also a victory for Massimo Colaci, who this evening takes the MVP award, capping a journey of constant growth with the Bianconeri club since he began his adventure with owner Sirci, nine seasons ago. It’s a victory for a city and an entire region!
Sir Susa Scai is great!
