While waiting to find out the final teams participating in the Playoff Semifinals, Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza is preparing for the first leg of the CEV Cup Semifinals, with the red and whites playing tomorrow – Wednesday, March 25 – at 8:30 pm, at home against Slovenian side ACH Volley Ljubljana.

Piacenza, fresh from Game 4 of the Quarterfinals against Valsa Group Modena (the series is tied at 2-2 after the Giallorossi’s sweep at PalaBancaSport), must now focus on European competition before resuming their SuperLega campaign. A team arrives in Emilia that boasts several players familiar with the Italian league, including former red and white player Toncek Stern, middle blocker Alaen Pajenk, former Ravenna libero Jani Kovacic, setter Gregor Ropret, who played in Molfetta and Perugia, and spiker Tine Urnaut, who played in Italy with Piacenza, San Giustino, Vibo Valentia, Trento, Modena, and Milan.

Piacenza advances to the Semifinals after defeating Berlin Recycling Volleys in the Quarterfinals and JSW Jastrzebski Wiegel in the Playoffs. Ljubljana, for their part, is fresh off a quarterfinal win over Fenerbahçe Medicana Istanbul, having opened their European season with a Champions League appearance, finishing third in Pool A, the same as Trentino Itas. In both matches, Marcelo Mendez’s men took all the spoils: 3-0 at the BTS Arena in mid-December and 3-1 in Slovenia in February.

The match will be available on DAZN.
