In a well-known restaurant and pub in the Contea town, the end-of-season dinner was held last night for Avimec Modica, who just a few days ago was eliminated in the playoffs by Gabbiano Mantova in a golden set.

The entire management team was present at the meeting, with the exception of vice president Taddeo Grillo, who was away for work.

The occasion was a good opportunity to celebrate the results achieved this season, in which the “Galletti” achieved their best ever result in Serie A3 (fourth place) at the end of the regular season, and to thank the coaching staff and players for their constant commitment and dedication in defending the blue and white colors.

Amid smiles and a few faces that failed to hide a hint of emotion, anecdotes and curiosities, the event gave an account of an undoubtedly positive season that left a hint of bitterness for its conclusion. Elimination from the playoffs in the golden set, after overcoming a Game 1 defeat in Mantua, left a bitter taste in the mouth, but sport is also beautiful for these reasons, which, when looked at from the right perspective, always provide opportunities for growth and serve to gain experience.

At the end of the evening, General Manager Luca Leocata took the floor, thanking everyone for the excitement the team had brought to the management, wishing those who will leave for various reasons much success and encouraging those who will remain to defend the colors of Città della Contea to always give their best, as they have done so far.

President Vanni Iacono spoke in the same vein immediately afterward, emphasizing the quality of the team, which, despite a slow start, managed to excite the management and the fans, who cheered them on until Game 2 of the playoffs against Mantua.

Then it was coach Enzo Distefano’s turn, expressing his pride in the group he’s coached and the team’s identity, demonstrated by the seven wins in nine games achieved in the second half of the regular season. The white-and-blue coach was also a touch bitter when he spoke about the team’s elimination in the golden set in game 2 against Mantova. The Avimec coach then thanked the management, coaching staff, and players, emphasizing that both those who choose to pursue other paths and those who remain in Modica will always be treated with the utmost respect, and a goal certainly won’t ruin what they’ve all worked to build together. Everyone, without exception, has put a piece of themselves into this journey, which has brought a wealth of satisfaction, both personal and team-wide.
