De Giorgi’s team wins for the first time in history, in front of 11.000 supporters arrived in Pesaro

In front of an amazing crowd (BPA Palas di Pesaro gremito), 11.000 people were there at the most important match of the season, when the title number 61 has been assigned. And the title goes to Lube Banca Marche Macerata, for the first time in the final and for the first time Italian Champion.
Match 5 starts really well for Banca Marche Macerata. Even if the set is very tight since the beginning is Macerata that got it with the score of 25-21.
The two teams are both playing very well and the show is beautiful to watch. Great defenses allow Vermiglio and Sintini to play more easilly. Macerata plays well also by touching a lot of blocks and with Milijkovic (7 points in the first set). Vermiglio tries a lot his middleblockers especially Tencati (67% in the set).
In the second set Lube build the dream. The team is simply awesome in defense, Corsano is everywhere. Treviso still makes too many mistakes. Cisolla and Papi (17% in attack) have problems to put the ball down, Fei is the only one able to score points even if Macerata manage to defend also his attacks. For Macerata Milijkovic (9 points in the set) is unstoppable. Macerata leads 12-9 and keep the advantage until Alberto Cisolla starts to score important points and allow Treviso to reach Macerata at the score of 20-20. The end of the set is really heartbreaking and Macerata is eventually able to close the set in its favour for 26-24.
Also in the third set Macerata starts well. The crowd feels that the title is close and pushes the team. Casoli replaces Papi but at the end of the first time out Maceata is ahead 8-6. But Treviso is not ready to give up yet. Fei and Cisolla keeps the teams close and after the second time out the score is 16-15. Treviso is still fighting and able to even lead 22-21. But then Miijkovic serves an ace and send the team ahead 24-22. Herpe scores the final point and deliver the title for the first time to Macerata.
The Club can finally start to celebrate.

Samuele Papi (Treviso spiker): “I think we lost the title in Game 4 and today we had the wrong attitude to the match. We played against a team that gave the very best and put us in great difficulty. We have not been able to play how we can and how we want. The better team won.
