The official launch for the TIM CUP A1 Final Eight took place today. The great volley week will start on wednesday, January the 25th in Bassano del Grappa and will end thefollowing weekend in Forlì with the Final Four and the big event Volley Land Tim 2006.
The major of Bassno said during the conference: “We are glad that such a important sport event is taking place in Bassano. The town has a big sport tradition and is always willing to confirm it. Moreover, me and all my crew are very interested in sport, and such an event can’t do anything but help us in our purposes of spreading its culture. That is just one of the reasons why we are supporting this event.”
The sport town concillor Gianni Menegon went on: “It is a honour to have the chance to host such an important event, most of all because volley has ecome in very few year a compelling sport even for ther specialities. We know it will be a big committment, as well as it has been a big effort until now. I wan to express my complments to Bassano Volley for bringing such events i town, from the last year’s Final Fout to the quarterfinal of this year.”
The organizing society’s president, Fiorenzo Signor: “I must admit it is gratifying knowing that two matches of that level will take place in Bassano. First of all I want to give to the supporters -Bassano has one of the hugest fans crowds of the A2 championship- a high-level show. We will then offer to the town, hosting us since years, an important event. After last year’s experience we trained our group even better and we are aware we can do something really big in the future.”
Massimo Righi stated: “To be in Bassano is like being in a big family. We decided to give the first day of the event to Fiorese Bassano remembering the wonderful experience we had last year with the TIM CUP A2 Final Four. It was not a huge victory from the sport point of view, for the Bassano’s team didn’t reach the final match, but for the audience and the organization it was a big success. It never happened before to see a full arena even without the hosting team playing. That convinced us that Bassano is a really important volley centre in Italy, and it can become even more in the future. On the court there will be Cuneo and Treviso, the two strongest teams in the world. For the italian championship is the toughest in the world, and so this two teams, ranked first and second in the regular season, are the best in the world. Moreover the matches in Bassano, and all the TIM CUP A1- Coppa Italia matches, dueing to the agreements between the lega and foreign medias, will be broadcasted in Brazil, Arabian Peninsula, Japan, making the name and the sponsors of Bassano well-known to a potential 100 million people audience.”
