Trento – PalaTrento accepts the invititation and its 3700 supporters are the pefect frame for the challenge between Itas Diatec Trentino and Antonveneta Padova, one of the best matches so far.
Great rhythm from the very beginning with the guest team showing something extra in their serves, hitting the middle areas in the opposite side.
Stoytchev launches Della Lunga rather than Matey Kaziyski in the back but Lorenzo Perazzolo is unstoppable and with 71% in attack leads his team mates to win the set.

In the second set Antonveneta carries on with their positive trend: blocking and serving seem to close the argument but on 13-17 Padova suffers Trento’s come back with Kaziyski and Grbic’s blocks who turn the set around and do a 6-1. Padova gets nervous but Esko keeps his concentration and nulls the first set points for them on 23-24. The end of the set is firy, the team get 3 set points each. Absolute stars are middle blockers De Togni and Bontje: the first one closes with 100% in attack and the second one finds the two services that take Padova on 0-2.

The home team gets loud again with their blocking and serving, the rest is done by the attack with all the players reopening the match with important percentages.

Itas Diatec Trentino gets the tie break thanks to an amazing performance by Michal Winiarski: The polish spiker scores 11 points (7 attack, 2 blocks, 3 serves) killing the opponents resistance.

Trento dominates the tie break and and goes straing to 4-1, with Padova paying for the psycological repercussion od not closing the match. Antonveneta does not stop fighting though and reopens the set with their blocking making a point after another setting the palasport on fire.

The final rush belongs to Trento and is signed by Matey Kaziyski who blocks Lorenzo Perazzolo on 12-12 then closes the match point with a diagonal. It will be De Togni’s mistake that closes the hostilities but Padova still shows to be able to play on the same lavel as the big ones.

The leadership seems further away for Itas Diatec Trentino but Stoytchev’s team, for their 6th consecutive victory, has put in muscles, heart and determination. And the distance, that way, seems a little less bitter.

Bruno Bagnoli (Antonveneta Padova): “It is a shame because on 2-0 we were hopeful but from the third set onwards our performance went down and they reacted powerfully, they are that kind of team anyway. In the 5th set we made some silly mistakes without which we could have won the match”.

Vladimir Nikolov (Itas Diatec Trentino): “Considering how much time we have spent together it is a result that I accept. If we would have been more concentrated in the second set we could have won 3-1″.

MVP: Michal Winiarski (Itas Diatec Trentino)

Treviso – Sisley Volley imposes themselves with an authoritative 3-0 on Andreoli Latina in the 7th round of the Serie A1 TIM: they dominates Gulinelli’s team at Palaverde and carry on climbing to the top of the standings.
On wednesday the away match in Rome before the long championship break will be fundamental to continue their run. No two ways about it the match with Latina:16-8 in the first set ending 25-12. More balance in the second set going to 17-17 then Cisolla and Fei go wild and take the team to 22-18 for a 25-21 in the end. The third set is almost a formality with Dal Zotto’s team overtaking the opponents 25-14.

Renan Dal Zotto (Sisley Treviso): “Great match, I am satisfied especially because we have played with a smile on our face and great confidence. Gustavo did well blocking, Cisolla recovered 100% and we can tell and we have not underestimated our opponent thinking about our game only.
These are good indications, with these points we can now go to Rome and try and play our game. The break? It would have been better if we could have worked together through the whole period but there is no problem, we hope all the boys in the national teams will come back in good shape both physically and mentally”.

Flavio Gulinelli (Andreoli Latina): “We knew it would have been very hard to come here and get some points and Sisley did not give anything away for free as expected. We struggled in the back, they started without making any mistakes and that gave them confidence and rhythm.
We are training hard but we miss that certain chemistry on court that would turn our matches around. We have improved the quality of our game during the week, we hope we will be able to do better after the break”.

MVP: Gustavo Endres (Sisley Treviso)

Refs: Cipolla, Castagna

NOTES – Audience 2800; takings 7800 euros; set lenght: 23’, 22’, 22’ ; total lenght 67’.

Cuneo – Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo takes one hour and seven minutes to beat junior team Famigliulo Corigliano. Whoever imagined a team lacking in steam and ideas after the Champions League appointments (see Padova), had to think again. Everyone happy at the end of the match, starting from Silvano Prandi. His team closed the match with 66% in attack, 5 aces and great blocking (10-3). Inspired again by Cuban Gonzales, Mvp.

The clouds over coach Giuliani are getting darker and darker. Kovacevic’s absence has an impact even though his replacement Aleksiev has been the best of his team mates with 14 points. Famigliulo was only in the match for 2 sets, the first one and the third one, but that was not enough to grab a point for a standings that is becoming more and more difficult”.

More complicated than expected the start for Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo who found a battling Famigliulo Corigliano. If Giuliani needs to do without Kovacevic, Prandi recover Battilotti but Fortunato is not well so he gets Curti to start.
Despite the final 25-22, it is a challenging match. Both teams attack well (72% Cuneo – 64% Corigliano) and they create a pleasant set.
The following set is a piece of cake for Bre Banca. Prof. Prandi enjoys Lasko’s playing which gives his team the 2-0. In the third set the calabresi play till the end but Cuneo is on the ball and with Lasko they close the match.

Michal Lasko (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “I played a great game even though the whole team responded well. Corigliano started serving well then they got lost. Even our service was good. If we carry on serving like this we can beat anyone”.

Francesco Biribanti (Famigliulo Corigliano): “It was a balanced match in the first set only. From the second one Cuneo superiority came out. The break is going to be vital for us to find the right understanding which has been missing so far in order to overcome this difficult time”.

MVP: Javier Gonzalez (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo)

Refs: Pessolano, Mastrodonato

NOTES – Audience 1600; takings 4200 euros; set lenght: 26’, 26’, 28’, 24’, 20’ ; total lenght 124’.

Perugia – Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari wins in Perugia against RPA-LuigiBacchi.it for 2-3. Velasco sends Tiberti in for Ahmed and alternating the two players ends up being the winning formula.

RPA-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia starts the first set with maximum concentration. Serving, blocking and digging make a different. Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari, instead, struggles to find their balance on court. Dall’Olio’s team is lead by Nemec with 3 blocks, 2 successful attacks (100%) and one ace. The set ends 25-20 but it couls have been heavier if it wasn’t for the lombardi’s pride reaction.

In the second set it is the other way around. Montichiari shows more determination especially attacking and digging. Acqua Paradiso Gabeca wins 19-25 going on 1-1.
But the emotions are not missing because the players give birth to a spectacular third set that ends 23-25 for Gavotto & Co. RPA-LuigiBacchi.it, despite the difficulties in attack, manages to recuperate 5 points (12-17) and get to 23-24. But at the end Velasco’s men put the final ball on the ground.
New emotional rollercoster in the forth set, easily won by the home team for 25-17. Montichiari seems lost, on the contrary Perugia seems to recover more and more. It gets to tie break where Montichiari wins for 14-16.

Simone Serafini (RPA LuigiBacchi.it Perugia): “Both teams played on and off. Volleyball can be decided with one ball only, it is a shame for us because we did not manage to close important situations in the end”.

Mauro Gavotto (Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari): “I am convinced that we played a good match, especially as a group. It is very important for us and today, it made a difference. Winning three tie breaks out of four in the past few matches proves it too. Good performance by the two setters, you cannot tell them apart on court”.

MVP: Mauro Gavotto (Acqua Paradiso Gabeca Montichiari)
