Modena – The challenge between Cimone Modena and Itas Diatec Trentoino is a fight from the very beginning, a head to head that Angel Dennis breaks with his service. Modena is more aggressive at this, but to build their success in the first set they have to take advantage of the attack with Andrè Nascimento.

The diagonal player does not miss a ball, Ricardo takes notice and gives him the most important balls. Trento is a totally different team in the second set. The players’ attention raises and they are good at buiding more chances to counterattack. Cimone Modena lets them take them by surprise. Ricardo’s attacking force are read by the oppsite blocking and digging, but Itas does well with their service too taking options away from Ricardo.

Trento’s march carries on in the third set. Their rhythm is not kept by Cimone Modena. Andrea Giani calls on the bench: in Casoli for Murilo and Sidao for Tencati. It is Sidao himself who shows the most beautiful things for Modean. Trento manages the set and with Kaziyski they go on 2-1.

Back on court, Giani keeps the team as they were at the end of the previous set. Modena starts fast, Ricardo takes advantage of Sidao’s golden moment. Trento shows their attitude once again when Modena runs off onto 15-11, a hope to go to tie break.

Stoytchev’s men’s patience conquers the 15-15. The teams give birth, for the second time, to the beginning of the match, an emotional head to head.

Modena is taking off once again with a block by Luca Tencati, in for Garcia and an ace by Nascimento. The two extra points take Modena to tie break.

A 5th set absolutely dominated by Itas Diatec Trentino and their cynism.

Andrea Giani (Cimone Modena): “The difference was minimal, this proves we are on a similar level, but Trento won. We still make too many mistakes and we pay a lot for it”.

Radostin Stoytchev (Itas Diatec Trentino): “I am very happy about the victory and the performance in such difficult grounds and against a brasilian style team that we find difficult to fight. I am happy about the team’s reaction in the 4th set. I always want them to fight like that”.

MVP: Vladimir Nikolov (Itas Diatec Trentino).

Milano – Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza wins at PalaLido against Sparkling Milano. 0-3 the final result which does not leave much space or time to reply. One hour and 18 minutes of playing after three sets ended on 21-25, 20-25, 15-25; nice audience with almost 3000 people.

Mr Lorenzetti manages his team really well, excellently led by setter Marco Meoni, good to call Cozzi and Bjelica in the middle for 13 times with 78% positivity for Cozzi and 100% for Bjelica. Bovolenta absent due to a problem with his elbow.

Great performance by Zlatanov, MVP, but Piacenza’s nine aces are the winners. Also a careful block, 8 times successful.

Sparkling pays for an evening full of mistakes. 16 at serving, 9 at digging and 8 in attack. Mistakes that costed them dear at the beginning of the match with the guest flying on to 3-10.

Milano reacts and with a dangerous service they create a bit of a chaos for Piacenza. The worst comes when they get to 21-21 but Zlatanov and Co. accellerate again adn close on 21-25.

A second set that is decided before the first TTO. 12-16 is a score that Copra Nordmeccanica is able to manage at their best closing on 20-25.

Milano tries to shake up but the guest team keeps the rhythm high. In the third set Sergio and Co.’s digging is practically perfect. Meoni manages perfectly while on the other side Ricci tries with Bendandi and Kadziewicz. Nothing to do for them, Piacenza does not stop and wins the jackpot.

Riccardo Spairani (Sparkling Milano): “Nothing really worked, partly due to Piacenza who faced the match in the best possible way. They were very aggressive from the beginning when serving and they made it difficult for us. When you suffer breaks against teams like Piacenza it is difficult to come back both in terms of points and the morale. But we have to work in order to be more of a team and we cannot have this passive attitude”.

Angelo Lorenzetti (Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza): “We served really well, I told my boys we were facing a very technical team who diggs a lot and that we should have been patient. Simeonov was vital with his service. I did not like our sideout which had a low percentage”.

MVP: Hristo Zlatanov (Copra Nordmeccanica Piacenza)

Corigliano – At the end of a very hard match, Prisma wins at tie break and gets two important points towards safety, given that Taranto goes on +5 leaving Corigliano behind and hooking on to Perugia, who lost against Roma today. Taranto takes a vital step towards safety, Famigliulo, on the other hand, maust get to work and start hoping.

The first set sees Famigliulo determined going to the first TTO on 8-6, then 9-9 and 13-10 with two blocks by Raymaekers on Vissotto and Vulin. Prisma comes back but Corigliano goes back up (17-14). Giuliani puts Carletti who blocks Vissottoe (18-15). The set closes on 25-20 with Marcic’s attack from zone 4 and an ace by the serbian himself.

In the second set Corigliano loses the initial verve and Taranto becomes more precise. Most of all, middle blocker Rak improves his performance and Shumov comes in for Vulin, which will be a vital move in the end. Biribanti suffers a knee problem half way thorugh the set and Gallotta warms up. Taranto is 6-8 ahead then 14-16 and a devastating spike by Vissotto brings Taranto to 21-18. Corigliano is not in the match anymore and Prisma closes on 25-21quite easily.

In the third set Giuliani puts Gallotta spiker and Maric diagonal, Biribanti on the bench given his condition. Shumov is confirmed for Prisma instead of Vulin. The set is balanced up to a certain point then Vissotto’s verve comes out and Corigliano loses it completely.

In the 4th set, Famigliulo Corigliano know they cannot make mistakes now and they play at their best, fighting head to head against Prisma.

Giuliani’s team grows in reception, also thanks to Gallotta. Prisma does not give up though, pushed by 200 supporters armed with drums and flags. The set is blanaced up to 21-20: Maric pulls Corigliano and Vissotto with Patriarca keep Taranto in on the other side. Famigliulo wins for 25-22 and they go to tie break.

5th set that sees the teams taking over the other twice but Corigliano loses it again and it is 12-15 for Taranto.

Leandro Vissotto (Prisma Taranto): “After such a match this was a  very important victory for us. In Corigliano we had the most difficult match we could play at the moment, both teams were up for it and they gave everything. A special thank you to our supporters who came all this way and gave their important contribution to this match. Finally, I would like to thak God, who allows me to go on court every day and give my best for my team. Am I the MVP? That does not matter that much, I have been the MVP even when we were losing. What matters today is that we won, the whole team played well, this is important, not being the best one”.

Alberto Giuliani (Famigliulo Corigliano): “They have done well to go home with these two points. We had a good approach to the match but that was not enough. Now let’s think about the next one, hoping to do better for our safety”.

MVP: Leandro Vissotto Neves (Prisma Taranto)

Cuneo – Negative day for the home team collecting another defeat in front of their own supporters, managing to grab one point only from Lube Banca Marche Macerata who won 1-3 (25-22, 22-25, 24-26, 22-25), Rodrigao MVP with 89% in attack. Setter Gonzale, out for a shoulder problem in the past few matches played on and off for Wijsmans’ team, replaced by brasilian Marlon.

Macerata arrived without serbian MB Geric. Igor Omrcen made it more emotional wearing Lube’s colours after many years in Cuneo, a place full of memories for coach De Giorgi too.

Bre Banca Lannutti starts well winning the first set after a start when Lube seemed more aggressive, but it was 8-7 at the first TTO for Prandi’s men already.

Omrcen started with determination then went down to an overall 29% in attack, 36% the team’s overall against Cuneo’s 52%, who sends in Gonzalez on 17-15 up to 22-19. In the meantime Lasko does a couple of numbers that grab the audience applauses. Macerata has to replace their setter Vermiglio due to an ankle problem, with Monopoli. Cuneo is more successful both in attack and digging, they waste two set balls then Abbadi closes on 25-22.

the second set starts the other way around, it is Macerata who leads the dances from the beginning with Lebl and Monopoli after points against a Bre Banca Lannutti making many mistakes at serving who need more than Lasko’s determination; reception in De giorgi’s half works better (73%) and despite an attempt to come back by Wijsmans (ace) towards the end, Lube gets the better of them on 22-25.

They win the third set too thanks to a better efficacy in the middle with Rodrigao and Lebl, the home team tries to catch up with a game that excites the audience, on 16-18 gonzalez comes back in. Bre Banca Lannutti goes on 23-23 and it carries on head to head with Lube winning in the end.

Macerata is still dominating in the 4th set and on 8-10 Prandi replaces captain Wijsmans  (only 36%) with Parodi. The game is always tense for Cuneo that gets two serves wrong on 17-18 and on 18-22, Felizardo scores two points, one from Marlon and Macerata closes on 25-22 winning the match.
Silvano Prandi (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “Macerata played beter than us. Technical and attitude difficulties are coming out, which had not happened in the first leg. Now we need to grow finding the missing balance, improving our sideout and service, which we will work on”.

Fefe’ De Giorgi –( Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “I am happy because we are finding ourselves again. today we were able to be patient after a first set in Cuneo’s favour which highlighted the need for corrections which we were able to make. Cuneo made too many mistakes”.

MVP: Rodrigao (Lube Banca Marche Macerata)

Perugia – Roma the Leader. Thanks to a victory over RPA-LuigiBacchi.it in the middle of a crisis, Roma takes the lead winning at PalaEvengelisti for 3-0, while  the demotion zone is dangerously close for Perugia.

First set to Roma, who takes advantage of their powerful  attack at the right moment (Marshall and Savani over 70%) and from the second TTO they take off. Perugia does not shine in anything, they have to be happy with new diagonal player Nikola Kovacevic’s points (56%) and thanks to a serve mistake by Vujevic they lose 22-25.

In the second set Perugia, who started badly, manages to recover some points and their morale: from 7-12 they go to 14-16 thanks to a good push by Robert Kromm. It is Robert Braga’s entrance for Richard Nemec that contributes to bring the yellow&red some freshness and heavy balls. We are  on 19-20 when the young MB asks for one point. Shame it will be the last one. Roma calls on to their heavy arms (Miljkovic and Kooistra) and close the games: 19-25. RPA-LuigiBacchi.it does not even need Stokr for Kovacevic to make the difference.
In the 3rd set Dall’Olio confirms the six players who closed the previous set but this time the romans do not give Perugia the benefit of the doubt. Marshall and Savani fly and Roma closes the match: 18-25.

Hubert Henno (M. Roma Volley): “We played an excellent match, interpreted perfectly both in terms of sideout and the blocking-digging correlation. We are on the right path, let’s carry on like that”.

Roberto Braga (RPA-LuigiBacchi.it Perugia): “We needed to be braver because we did not have anything to lose against Roma. Instead, we played two sets on an off and we gave up on the third one. Competition will be good for us, you will see”.

Mvp: Leonell Marshall (M. Roma Volley)
