ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO – BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-22) –

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 15, Gallosti (L), Birarelli 11, Portuondo Juantorena 11, Vieira De Oliveira 1, Vissotto Neves 17, Sala 5, Bari (L). Dnp Zygadlo, Fedrizzi, Sokolov, Corsini, Herpe. Coach. Stoytchev Radostin.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Wijsmans 9, Henno (L), Parodi 9, Fortunato 4, Nikolov 7, Grbic 3, Peda 3, Mastrangelo 10, Patriarca 2, Pieri (L). Dnp Ariaudo, Nuti, Jeroncic. Coach. Giuliani Alberto.

Cuneo is the latest to have to surrender to Trentino, who managed the feat to take maximum points in eight days in which it faced the three semi finalists of the last playoffs: Piacenza, Macerata and Cuneo. Giuliani’s team couldn’t keep up with the rhythm of the European champs, who imposed their game straight from the start thanks to some good work at the net (12 points), an effective serve (6 aces) and a spectacular attack that finished as high as 66% (73% for Vissotto, MVP). Nikolov was not his old self and Wijmans had ups and downs, effective only in the third set. Grbic try to vary by passing it more to the middleblockers but he paid the price for the little efficiency of his teammates at the net (43%). Trento remains top with this fourth consecutive win. It conceded just one set in three games in their PalaTrento gym.

Raphael (Itas Diatec Trentino): “We improved compared to the last games we played but we have to look beyond without getting too excited. Tonight the focus of the team was really high, we conceded very little to our opponent and that’s how we cruised to a deserved 3-0 victory”.

Nikola Grbic (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We haven’t clicked yet and have a lot of work on. We lack consistency and to win against a team like Trento, we really had to be more united and determined”.

COPRATLANTIDE PIACENZA – LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 2-3 (25-22, 22-25, 25-20, 18-25, 13-15) –

COPRATLANTIDE PIACENZA: Rak 1, Mazza (L), Meoni 1, Marshall 26, Grassano, Boninfante, Zlatanov 27, Durante (L), Bravo 2, Oivanen 3, Urnaut 9, Bjelica 10. Dnp Sequeira. Coach. Lorenzetti Angelo.

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Lebl 16, Raymaekers, Cisolla 14, Paparoni, Vermiglio 3, Bartoletti, Smerilli (L), Martino 10, Corsano (L), Omrcen 22, Podrascanin 6. Dnp Fantin, Monopoli. Coach. De Giorgi Ferdinando.

Piacenza and Macerata were separated once more by a tie-break, just like last month in the Italian Super Cup, which Piacenza had won. This time round, Macerata had the better as it managed to get back from 2-1 down. It’s a fundamental victory for Macerata, which are not only back on track but also regain confidence in just one night. MVP: Hristo Zlatanov.

Angelo Lorenzetti (CoprAtlantide Piacenza): “We have to learn to do better when we reach our pick and start to fade. It’s obvious that right now, we can’t be at the top for two whole hours. One run of serves can be enough for the opponent to get back at you. We have improved our handling of the tough situations but we still have to improve in that department”.

Ferdinando De Giorgi (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “This was an opportunity to redeem ourselves after the severe defeat against Trento and we did it. We did well to stay in it in the difficult moments”.

TRENKWALDER MODENA – ACQUA PARADISO MONZA 3-1 (25-22, 21-25, 25-12, 25-21) –

TRENKWALDER MODENA: Manià (L), Ciabattini (L), Kooistra 10, Dennis 17, Kooy 6, Biribanti 1, Esko 3, Meszaros 2, Casoli 10, Diaz Mayorca 20, Piscopo 6. Dnp Soli, Pagni. Coach. Prandi Silvano.

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA: Sivula, Rauwerdink 12, Pesenti (L), Krumins, Haldane 1, Tuominen 2, Forni 10, Molteni 7, Buti 7, Travica 3, Gavotto 19, De Luca, Exiga (L). Coach. Berruto Mauro.

Fourth consecutive win for Modena, which overcame Monza in the Pala Panini. It remains second in the table. Before the game, there was a deserved ovation for the European Champions over 35 women and the over 50 men. In front of Italian national team coach Anastasi, Prandi’s team had a convincing performance against a Monza team that did not play badly either as it was led by the ex Travica. As for Modena, Diaz and Casoli, MVP, stood out. On Wednesday, Modena will play the big derby against Treviso, while it will host Cuneo on Saturday (at 4.30pm).

Silvano Prandi (Trenkwalder Modena): “Monza made it difficult for us as it has the quality to do so, but we did well to react, especially when coming back in the first set. Diaz was crucial and Casoli gave balance to the team. We are happy with the win, now we will be facing Treviso and Cuneo: we will need courage and we will have to cut down on the mistakes”.

Dragan Travica (Acqua Paradiso Monza): “It’s a shame we lost. We did play a good game, but our reception could have been better and we struggled in some situations in attack. It was a nice welcome for me at the PalaPanini: To play in front of these fans is great and whoever wears the yellow and blue shirt feels it”.

MARMI LANZA VERONA – SISLEY TREVISO 0-3 (23-25, 22-25, 17-25) –

MARMI LANZA VERONA: Latelli (L), Sottile, Della Lunga 2, Lasko 6, Kovar 5, Curti, Holt 6, Colaci (L), Kromm 9, Howard 10. Dnp Groppi, Peslac, Galabinov. Coach. Bagnoli Bruno.

SISLEY TREVISO: Fei 20, Horstink 18, Papi 2, Farina (L), Kohut 1, De Togni 2, Bontje 6, Maruotti 5, Vanin (L), Garcia 3. Dnp Carletti, Sabbi, Cuda. Coach. Piazza Roberto.

Despite the three thousand crowd pushing, Verona could not stop Treviso. Fei scored 21 points and Horstink added 18, while the team gathered 11 blocks while Verona was stuck at 4. Verona wasted the first set, as Treviso cruised to victory in just over an hour of play.

Rob Bontje (Sisley Treviso): “It has not been an easy game, especially in the first set when Verona was decisive on serve. We managed to win thanks to a bit of luck too in that first phase. If we had not won the first set, the game would probably have changed. We did well to win this game”.

Daniel Howard (Marmi Lanza Verona): “The first set influenced the rest of the game. We know we can play good volleyball but we have to find consistency to do so. We have to keep working. Treviso is definitely a good team, tough to beat and it proved it today”.

ANDREOLI LATINA – ARAN CUCINE ABRUZZO PINETO 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-17) –

ANDREOLI LATINA: Van Den Dries 1, Gitto 5, Giovi (L), Saitta 2, Nikic 9, Fabroni, Geric, Vujevic 12, Spairani 3, Giombini 23. Dnp Cortina, Snippe. Coach. Ricci Daniele.

ARAN CUCINE ABRUZZO PINETO: Ravellino 3, Perez Moreno, Roberts 6, Modica, Lampariello (L), Ronaldo, Sborgia 3, Di Franco 2, Perazzolo 6, Ereu 5, Armeti (L), Gradinarov 8. Coach. Brutti Alessandro.

Latina grabbed a second win in a row, the first at home: 3-0 against Pineto, currently bottom. It’s been one way traffic as Latina played brilliantly as a team. This will help the group to get up the table, while Pineto remains stuck with no points to show for. Montenegrin Vujevic (MVP) and Nikic shined. They did well in reception and were key in dig with Giovi.

Leondino Giombini (Andreoli Latina): “It’s easy to say at the end of the game that it was an easy game. But at the beginning it was not like that. We got better in the last two games. Now we need to wait for other rivals, maybe better ones”.

Alessandro Brutti (Aran Cucine Abruzzo Pineto): “Poor game, not especially for the result but for the level of play. After Wednesday’s game, when we played well in spite of not taking any points, today we did not play at the level we are capable of. We are behind in our preparation but we have to forget about today’s performance. Credit to Latina which played a great game, though we haven’t done anything to win it”.

ESSE-TI CARILO LORETO – YOGA FORLì 3-1 (25-18, 25-21, 23-25, 25-23) –

ESSE-TI CARILO LORETO: De Angelo Freitas 10, Marra (L), Marzola, Diachkov 18, Van Dijk 17, Visentin 4, Belcecchi, Paoli 2, Cester 4, Shumov 10. Dnp Dolfo, Vigilante. Coach. Moretti Luca.

YOGA FORLì: Mengozzi 1, Coscione 3, Carrol 17, Popp 10, Stancu 9, Graydon Ainsworth 9, Gjorgiev 1, De Pandis (L), Bianchi (L), Casadei 5, Maric 7, Bacci. Dnp Loglisci. Coach. Molducci Piero.

Loreto’s positive trend at home continues with all three points against Forli. Technically, the level was not especially high, there have been many mistakes: at 2-0  and 21-17 in the third, Loreto got stuck and let Forli back in. Same again in the fourth set, with Forli cancelling out three match points. Shumov made the fourth one count.

Davide Marra (Esse-ti Carilo Loreto): “We had a couple of black-outs and lacked consistency. After two good sets, we faded, and when we lost the third set, we ran the risk to end up having to face a tie-break. The many mistakes ? Well, both teams felt pressure as it was a match up between too teams fighting to stay up, that surely had an influence”.

Piero Molducci (Yoga Forlì): “We got to Loreto with problems in the line up and in spite of this we almost made it to the tie-break. We are obviously not happy with the level of play. We made too many mistakes and our main players are still lacking consistency, be that in attack, in terms of concentration, alternating good things and horrible ones”.
