Roma took the lead in the final series of the A2 by downing Crema 3-1. Game 2 will be on Wednesday in Crema at 8.30pm. If Giani’s boys were to win it, they would celebrate their triumph and go up in the A1. As for Monti’s team, it has no choice but come out on top Wednesday to tie the series and earn a deciding game 3, which would be played on Saturday 15 May back in the capital.

Roma started off a bit tense in the first set while Crema seemed to play more freely. Roma eventually came back in it thanks to Yosifov and Paolucci’s run of serves. Then, some good work at the net made sure the set went to Roma. Opposite scenario in the second set with Roma sprinting off the starting blocks and Crema trailing. Giani’s boys missed a few set points. Crema didn’t. On their first opportunity, they drew level. The third set was tight too, Roma built a slight lead, then was pegged back before running away again and maintaining the margin all the way. In the fourth set, Crema struggled in every department of the game, serve, reception, attack, block, everything was going pear-shaped. In the meantime, Poey lead his team to a crucial triumph in this fight to go up in the A1.
