The last 8th of October, in the “Nonno Gino” memorial, Santiago Darraidou injured his finger in his left hand. “At first I hadn’t realised but then I saw that the finger was going one way and the bone the other way. I was in shock from seeing the face of the boys who were looking at me, I remember well Enrico (Libraro) who remained paralysed all wide-eyed, with the mouth half open, making a grimace of disbelief towards Michele (Gatto) who was taken aback as if he’d seen a ghost”. Santiago was meant to stay at rest for three weeks but after two days he was already in the weight room thinking it was just a finger and that he could make it for the next game against Genova. The thing is, he could not have made a spike. “I was going to every training session, positioning myself on defence, until one ball hit my hand and the coach looked at me, showed me the way to the bench and said ‘thank you, please have a sit’”!
