2011 CEV Champions League

Treviso loss, wins for Cueno and Trento, which is through

LOKOMOTIV BELGOROD – SISLEY TREVISO 3-1 (25-20, 19-25, 25-20, 25-21)

LOKOMOTIV BELGOROD: Musersky 24, Sychev 8, Kosarev 12, Khtey 9, Kashitsyn (L), Ilinykh 3, Dineykin 10, Biryukov, Bagrey, Kovyryaev (L), Kolodinskiy 1. DNP Khanipov.

SISLEY TREVISO: Horstink, Szabo, Papi 1, Maruotti 15, Kovar 14, Fei 17, Farina (L), De Togni 3, Bontje 9, Boninfante 2. DNP Vanin, Gabana.

Treviso went to the leaders of the group, Belgorod, in need of points but it came home empty handed. Qualification is now almost impossible.

Roberto Piazza (coach Sisley Treviso): “Shame we threw away that advantage we had in the third set. Three points, when you are against such a strong opponent, that cannot be wasted. We did not manage to impose our rhythm on the serve, which is the main characteristic of the Russians. They have been better than us in that area of the game and got more than us out of it. Hopefully, we will learn something out of these losses for the league. Certain things went better compared to other games today and some automatism are starting to work. We have to go one step further and gather some important points for the table”.

RADNICKI KRAGUJEVAC – BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO 0-3 (19-25, 20-25, 18-25)

RADNICKI KRAGUJEVAC: Maksimovic 4, Stevanovic 19, Pantelic (L), Opacic 1, Ivovic 9, Radovic 4, Perovic, Novoselac 1, Hadzifejzovic 3. DNP Protic, Ivovic, Cirovic.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Volkov 12, Patriarca 8, Parodi 6, Nikolov 12, Carletti 6, Mastrangelo 8, Henno (L), Grbic, Galic 4, Dutto 1. DNP Wijsmans, Peda.

Cuneo had no trouble to get rid of Serbian side Kragujevac. It finished 3-0 in just over an hour of play.

TRENTINO BETCLIC – PGE SKRA BELCHATOW 3-1 (25-23, 25-23, 21-25, 25-16)

TRENTINO BETCLIC: Kaziyski 19, Zygadlo, Vieira De Oliveira 4, Stokr 12, Sokolov 3, Sala 2, Juantorena Portuondo 16, Garcia Pires Ribeiro 3, Della Lunga, Colaci (L), Bratoev, Birarelli 12, Bari (L).

PGE SKRA BELCHATOW: Zatorski (L), Woicki, Wnuk 1, Wlazly 25, Winiarski 17, Plinski 8, Novotny, Antiga 5, Kurek 1, Klos 7, Falasca 1. DNP Bakiewicz.

The remake of the last two Club World Championship finals gave Trentino another satisfaction. It ended 3-1 like in the 2009 final and Trentino is now through to the last 12 with a game in hand.

Radostin Stoytchev  (coach Trentino Betclic): “I am extremely satisfied with Tonight’s performance and with the fact we’re through to the next round with a game still to play in the first phase. We knew they would have made it very difficult for us, they had no pressure and played well. We did well to overcome the difficulty with character and with our level of play, especially after the poor spell of the third set. I think we have seen a top quality game. No time to celebrate, though, we have to focus on the Cuneo game now. The advantage is that we qualified before making a difficult trip to Germany next Wednesday”.
