European cups
Semi-finals triumphs for Treviso and Macerata in the first legs of their respective European cups: the Cev Cup and the Challenge Cup.
Treviso’s competitive spirit and character in front of 4500 Polish fans led to a tie-break victory against the Rzeszow team of Ljubomir Travica and Matej Cernic. The return game will be on Saturday in Belluno, where the Italians will need another win on any score in order to avoid the Golden set, which would be played in case of defeat. In the other semi-final, CSKA Sofia had the better of Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle 3-0. Return game on Sunday. The final series will be played on March 8/9 (first leg) and 12/13 March (return leg).
