In the opening game of round 3 on Saturday, Macerata beat Piacenza 3-1 making it a hat trick of victories and going top of the league with maximum points. Croatian spiker Ormcen was elected MVP.
Alberto Giuliani (coach Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We obtained three points against an excellent Piacenza team, I am particularly happy with this result because we had a couple of players who were not hundred percent like Savani, who still managed to give his contribution in reception and on the serve. Wins are more important when they come after such performance rather than when everything works to perfection, like in Roma last week. Now we have to take advantage of the coming week of training to prepare as well as we can the intense but exciting period coming between the league and the Champions League”.
Angelo Lorenzetti (coach Copra Elior Piacenza): “We had worked a lot on blocking during the week, and for long spells it worked fine today, and the attack too was good. Shame we lost our way at one point. In the third set, we wasted too many opportunities, so it’s impossible not to be disappointed”.
