Special guest, Marco Melandri, motorcyclist, could not have chosen a better volleyball game. This proved to be a thrilling match, in each one of its five sets, and it lasted for over two hours and a half. At 5-8 down in the tie-break, Trentino fought back to clinch it as Kaziyiski was named MVP of the game.

Emanuele Birarelli (Itas Diatec Trentino): “We play every three days so a little drop in form can happen. It occurred in the third set, but credit as well to Cuneo. We did a good job to find our game in the most difficult moment of the fifth set”.

Francesco Fortunato (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “This has been an incredibly spectacular game, which Trento deservedly won in the end, although Cuneo proved it was in it right until the end. The tie-break turned into a roller coaster, though”.

CASA MODENA – ANDREOLI LATINA 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-16, 25-16)

CASA MODENA: Manià (L), Catellani (L), Sala 13, Dennis 20, Carletti, Yosifov 7, Esko 2, Martino 6, Anderson 22, Piscopo. DNP Kooy, Bellei, Casoli. Coach. Bagnoli.

Modena obtained three points thanks to a convincing performance against former coach Silvano Prandi (welcomed with warm applause) and Latina. Mvp: Angel Dennis (Casa Modena).

Daniele Bagnoli (coach Casa Modena): “In terms of level of play we made some improvements compared to the last two games. But as soon as we had a dip, Latina showed all its quality and made it difficult for us. We have to be happy, although we have not been at our best in recent weeks, we haven’t lost too many points”.

Silvano Prandi (Andreoli Latina): “I’d like to thank the Modena fans for the applause and welcoming. As for the game, Modena put us under great pressure with their serve and we struggled in attack. These are the games we need to gain experience. Next is an important one against Padova”.

COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA – SISLEY BELLUNO 0-3 (19-25, 19-25, 20-25)

Despite a difficult week, Piacenza started off well but Belluno took charge from the second time out and won it in three sets. MVP Fei.

Roberto Piazza (coach Sisley Belluno): “We have done a great job to win this one. Piacenza was really up for it, we knew it, and in the first minutes of the first set, they really put us under pressure. We did well to stay composed and improve by converting our attacks. Next is Trento, super team which we’ll try to disturb. But I want to enjoy this victory until tomorrow”.

Angelo Lorenzetti (coach Copra Elior Piacenza): “Another bad game, but at least today we have fought until the end. The many changes during the season? It was right to try the newcomer Kampa and others who play usually less. Shame we made that many mistakes”.

FIDIA PADOVA – LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 0-3 (22-25, 19-25, 15-25)

FIDIA PADOVA: Garghella (L), Schwarz 4, Gonzalez 2, Tiberti, Cricca 2, Koshikawa 3, Rosso 1, De Marchi 4, Simeonov 12, Semenzato 4. DNP Giannotti, Suljagic. Coach. Montagnani.

Paolo Montagnani (coach Fidia Padova): “Macerata played brilliantly, we couldn’t trouble them as we did against Cuneo. We have an intense Christmas period ahead: not much time to eat cakes and a lot of volleyball because we want to use this period as well as we can to prepare the next games and take some points. I hope to see a packed gym for the game against San Giustino, ready to celebrate all together a victory”.

Cristian Savani (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We knew Padova was a team with the ability to make it difficult for the big clubs, which is why we played with the will not to be surprised and get the result. I am also happy with my performance. We’ll look ahead with confidence, with belief in our ability and potential”.

CMC RAVENNA – M. ROMA VOLLEY 1-3 (25-22, 26-28, 23-25, 22-25)

Ravenna played a good game, took a 1-0 lead but then surrendered every time at the end of the following three sets.

Antonio Babini (coach CMC Ravenna): “We started off very well and won the first set, then Bencz came on and things turned around. Still, we could have won each one of the other sets. It’s useless to linger on that defeat now, at the end of the day the team played a good game. Unfortunately at the end of sets, we lacked a little bit of composure and experience”.

Andrea Giani (coach M.Roma Volley): “In the first set, we made too many mistakes, and the second as well started badly but then Bencz’s entry changed the course of the game. Overall, we made too many mistakes, though, fortunately, in the clutch moments we managed to snatch the sets”.

We always lack the last step, but I am convinced we are doing a good job in training, and that will pay off”.

Facundo Conte (Acqua Paradiso Monza Brianza): “It was great to make my debut in this new team and play today. I still have to get used to this rhythm but I’ll be ready soon. Credit to our opponent which managed to make it difficult for us in moments in which we should have sealed it.
