2013 CEV Champions League

Macerata, Trento and Cuneo all won their first two games of the group phase and will face their last one this week before the start of the return legs. Cuneo travels to Poland to meet Rzeszow with top spot at stake as both clubs have easily got rid of Zalau and Sete. First position at stake as well for Macerata who only counts a one-point advantage on Unterhaching, next opponent of the Italians in Germany. Without the injured Savani and Kovar, Macerata will however have the enthusiasm of the young pair of Tartaglione and Randazzo, who already played against Lennik. Trentino will play host to the Polish side of Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle, who had a perfect run so far, just like the Italians.

2013 Challenge Cup

Piacenza’s last participation in Europe was back in 2009-10, when it took part in Champions League thanks to the league title won the previous season. That year, it did not make it past the main phase but, as best third team of its group, went to the Cev Cup, only beaten at the semi-final stage by Cuneo, future winner of the competition. While Piacenza won a Top Teams Cup in 2006, this will be its first ever participation in the Challenge Cup. Zlatanov and co will make their debut against the Turkish squad of Istanbul BBSK.
