In front of 4.000 supporters, the intensity and competitive spirit seen was out of this world as Modena made the breakthrough of stopping the league leaders, Trento. Outside hitter Gundars Celitans was named MVP of the game.

Angelo Lorenzetti (coach Casa Modena): “I had asked the boys to think they were playing against Barcelona, because Trento is like the Barcelona of volleyball and an example to follow for everyone. I also asked to play with dignity and enthusiasm. It’s obvious that Trento had to take decisions with the Champions League in mind and they did not play their best game. But I have to congratulate my boys. We deserve credit for staying in the game from start to finish, even if we had that little bit of luck too”.

Radostin Stoytchev (coach Itas Diatec Trentino): “During these 26 consecutive victories, we won almost all of them thanks to the team work. And tonight we lost because we did not play well as a team. Modena made it hard for us from the start with their main weapons, they had great percentages on the counter. We lacked consistency in every department. I am disappointed with the defeat but we have to accept it and focus on the positive aspects. We had Stokr and Juantorena back, which is definitely something positive, especially for the coming fixtures in the next few days”.
