ANDREOLI LATINA: Rauwerdink 5, Rossini (L), Gitto 3, Sottile 7, Jarosz 23, Patriarca 4, Verhees 7, Troy, Noda Blanco 8, Cisolla, Guemart. DNP Prandi, Fragkos. Coach. Prandi.

Second consecutive win of the year for Latina at the expense of San Giustino. It’s been a tight game decided at the end of sets. Thanks to this victory Latina moves up to sixth, close to Cuneo, its next opponent. Sottile MVP.

Silvano Prandi (coach Andreoli Latina): “It was easy to understand this game was going to be more difficult that the one in Verona. San Giustino is stronger and they play well. We have been lucky enough to snatch the first set. We haven’t played a good game but we have been patient and got the best possible result”.

Bram Van Den Dries (Altotevere San Giustino): “We have had a good game, but credit to them for sealing the sets. I am satisfied with my performance. I’d like to thank San Giustino for this opportunity to play in the A1, I am doing so as a starter, I feel fine in training, I am improving”.

SIR SAFETY PERUGIA – BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE 3-1 (25-19, 19-25, 25-17, 25-15)

SIR SAFETY PERUGIA: Alletti 6, Van Harskamp, Petric 16, Daldello 3, Giovi (L), Tomassetti 1, Schwarz 1, Tamburo 20, Vujevic 12, Edgar 2, Semenzato 8. DNP Van Rekom, Pochini. Coach. Kovac.

BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE: Menzel 1, Paparoni (L), Falaschi 3, Dolfo 3, Sabbi 15, Ferreira 1, Yosifov 12, Cester 7, Casoli 9, Krumins 2. DNP Elia, Ricciardello, Ferreira. Coach. Gulinelli.

Perugia came out on top in its first home game of 2013 against Castellana Grotte. The four previous encounters between the two teams had ended at the tie-break but this time setter Daldello (MVP) and Tamburo (20 points) showed the way to take maximum points. Petric and a spectacular Vujevic shined too.

Goran Vujevic (Sir Safety Perugia): “The first two sets were tight, the teams won one each as there were nice long spectacular rallies. Then, we went up a gear and played with confidence, we served well and limited our mistakes. I think the rhythm we imposed made the difference”.

Marco Falaschi (BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte): “We’re going through a bad patch, and that’s not just tonight. We are too inconsistent and we consequently have games like today in which we look bad. We have to analyze carefully what we’ve done and try to get back on our feet. The problem is that we’re already in the second half of the season. We really need to shake things up because right now we’re not worthy of the A1”.

MARMI LANZA VERONA – CMC RAVENNA 0-3 (23-25, 17-25, 19-25)

MARMI LANZA VERONA: Rak 6, Ter Horst 4, Gotsev 3, Meoni 1, Pesaresi (L), Gavotto 12, Peacock 1, Viafara, Fedrizzi 10, De Marchi 3. DNP Kosmina, Bolla, Centomo. Coach. Bagnoli.

CMC RAVENNA: Mengozzi 12, Owens 11, Zhukouski 3, Psarras, Tabanelli (L), Mazzotti (L), Zanuto 11, Bellei 13, Pelekoudas 6. DNP Sirri, Di Franco, Radunovic, Moro. Coach. Fresa.

Ravenna proved more effective in attack and on high balls and dominated the three sets.

Bruno Bagnoli (coach Marmi Lanza Verona): “I want to congratulate Ravenna because they had a great game against Modena and managed to repeat that kind of performance today. They served very well and did fine on high balls. They took advantage of the fact we’re not having our best moment psychologically. Despite a good game from Gavotto and the fact we alternated the setters, we did not manage to maintain a decent standard in attack”

Ryan Owens (CMC Ravenna): “This victory really feels good, we have worked hard in recent weeks to get here. We had to go through ups and downs lately but what we did tonight is something special, we have to build on this”.

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA – BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO 0-3 (23-25, 20-25, 23-25) – TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA: Coscione 3, Cortellazzi, Kaliberda 6, Farina (L), Forni, Rocamora 2, Buti 7, Klapwijk 14, Barone 4, Urnaut 13. DNP Montesanti, Lavia, Badawy. Coach. Blengini.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Antonov 8, Ngapeth 11, De Pandis (L), Wijsmans 17, Kohut 6, Grbic 3, Della Lunga, Sokolov 13, Abdelaziz, Rossi. DNP Marchisio, Galliani. Coach. Piazza.

The celebration of the hundredth anniversary of the Main Sponsor could not be completed with a victory as Cuneo came away with the three points. The new mascot Tonnino also made its debut. MVP: Wijsmans with 68% and 17 points (2 blocks).

Tine Urnaut (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “We struggled to settle down today, we started off slow and chasing Cuneo is not easy. In the first two sets, we have been dominated. We got ourselves a chance in the third, we built a lead thanks to a strong start, but as soon as we lowered our guards a little Cuneo pounced and got back in it. They sealed it with some brilliant plays”.

Tsevan Sokolov (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “I cannot say this was easy. And Vibo had made it very hard for us already the last time we met. This time we did not take anything for granted, we tried to stay composed at the start without overdoing things, we competed as we needed to. I think the key was our concentration, we never lowered our guards, we might not have been at 100% either but at least at a good 80%”.
