Castellana Grotte put an end to Modena’s positive run at the end of a thrilling game. Gulinelli’s boys played face to face with a stronger opponent and eventually snatched it thanks to their composure, patience and fighting spirit. Setter Falaschi shined while Sabbi had 62% and 26 points, Yosifov was unbelievable with 93% in attack and his usual 4 blocks. Some great individual performances but it was a team victory as Dolfo and Krumins did very well coming off the bench. MVP: Giulio Sabbi.

The main thing is that we proved to ourselves we could give a game to the top teams. There was great intensity on court, we deservedly won but now we have to find consistency and do as well next week against Verona”.
Michele Baranowicz (Casa Modena): “It’s not been an easy week for us but I think our attitude was not right. Congratulations to our opponents who fought on every ball and made it very hard for us. As for the technical side of things, we’ll talk about it with the coach”.
