This weekend, the Italian League and its clubs were united with UNIAMO in the sixth Rare Disease day. Some informative material was given in the arenas underlining the support of the League and its clubs.

CASA MODENA – CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA 3-1 (25-21, 25-27, 25-18, 25-20)

CASA MODENA: Manià (L), Sala 2, Bisi 1, Deroo 20, Quesque, Celitans 20, Vesely 8, Pinelli, Kovacevic 16, Baranowicz 5, Piscopo. DNP Catellani. Coach. Lorenzetti.

Unbelievable atmosphere created by over 5000 spectators in Modena as the hosts had the better of the Italian champions of Macerata. Thanks to this win, Lorenzetti’s boys consolidate their fifth place. Born in 1994, Fabio Bisi made his full debut in the Serie A. Modena dominated at the net with 14 blocks to 3, and in attack: 54% versus 46%.

Mvp: Uros Kovacevic (Casa Modena)

Uros Kovacevic (Casa Modena): “That was a great feeling, this arena is amazing. I enjoyed every minute of it. To have a chance against a top team like Macerata we needed a top quality performance and we gave more than 100%. We have to keep working hard, each game has its own story and the only way to get better is to maintain the focus and intensity in training”.

Hubert Henno (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “Our approach to the game was not the best, but we did well to bounce back in the second set. But then we did not manage to impose our will, it’s a difficult moment for us and you could see that in the third and fourth set”.

COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA – ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO 2-3 (25-17, 18-25, 19-25, 25-19, 12-15)

COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA: Latelli (L), Marra (L), Papi 11, Fei 22, Simon 14, Zlatanov 18, Holt 4, Tencati 1, Maruotti, Vettori, De Cecco 5. DNP Corvetta, Ogurcak. Coach. Monti.

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 17, Sintini, Birarelli 7, Juantorena 14, Vieira De Oliveira 2, Uchikov 3, Djuric 10, Colaci (L), Stokr 15, Chrtiansky Jr 1, Bari (L), Burgsthaler 1. DNP Valsecchi. Coach. Stoytchev.

The snow did not stop the Piacenza fans who packed the arena for the big game against Trento. In its last home game before the playoffs, Piacenza fought hard for five sets and almost 2 hours but Trento came out on top and took two points. De Cecco proved to be a superb organizer in the clutch time, but Raphael did extremely well too on the other side of the net.

Luca Monti (coach Copra Elior Piacenza): “We played with an excellent attitude, the only disappointment is for the third set, in which we faded. In the fourth set, both teams played at a lower level but we did well to fight through it. We gave everything we had, and we realized we had qualities that troubled Trento. We should keep in mind those positive aspects for future encounters against Trento”.

Massimo Colaci (Itas Diatec Trentino): “Each one of us knew perfectly how important and difficult was going to be this encounter. Piacenza is a tough place to go to, they have an excellent team. Their serve made it particularly hard for us. It’s really been a tough game but we can be happy with the two points that means we stay top of the league”.

MARMI LANZA VERONA – TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA 2-3 (19-25, 25-21, 25-21, 23-25, 13-15) MARMI LANZA VERONA: Kosmina, Ter Horst 4, Gotsev 8, Meoni, Pesaresi (L), Gavotto 20, Peacock 3, Viafara 6, Fedrizzi 18, De Marchi 11. DNP Bolla, Centomo. Coach. Bagnoli.

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA: Coscione 1, Cortellazzi 1, Kaliberda 4, Farina (L), Rocamora 1, Badawy 10, Buti 5, Klapwijk 18, Barone 11, Urnaut 24. DNP Montesanti, Lavia, Forni. Coach. Blengini.

In a heated atmosphere and among the many charity initiatives in Verona, Vibo Valentia came out on top at the tie-break. Still Verona had a positive performance, they were also disappointed with some referee decisions at the end of the fourth set. MVP: Urnaut.

Francesco De Marchi (Marmi Lanza Verona): “The important thing for us is to end the season with dignity, and today we showed some positive. However, we keep being unlucky but we can be satisfied because we played at a different level compared to what we did in recent games”.

Tine Urnaut (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “It’s been a thrilling game but we still haven’t reached the level of play we would like. We are still fighting for sixth place but we only got two points. Still, this was an incredibly tense and spectacular game”.

CMC RAVENNA – SIR SAFETY PERUGIA 0-3 (14-25, 22-25, 20-25)

CMC RAVENNA: Mengozzi 4, Psarras 1, Sirri 6, Tabanelli (L), Di Franco 2, Radunovic 2, Zanuto 10, Bellei 12, Pelekoudas 1. DNP Owens, Zhukouski, Mazzotti. Coach. Fresa.

SIR SAFETY PERUGIA: Alletti 7, Van Harskamp, Petric 16, Daldello 1, Giovi (L), Schwarz, Tamburo 15, Vujevic 4, Edgar 2, Semenzato 2. DNP Van Rekom, Tomassetti, Pochini. Coach. Kovac.

Ravenna could do very little to contain Perugia. The game became very hard before it even began: indeed, the team lost Zhukouski (back problem) and Moro (flu), who were substituted by Psarras and Bellei.

Mauro Fresa (coach CMC Ravenna): “We do have our problems but we don’t have much luck either. Losing two key players in the morning really made it hard. But we’ll keep fighting in the last two games, starting with Sunday’s game in Castellana Grotte”.

Slobodan Kovac (coach Sir Safety Perugia): “We had seen Ravenna begin very well in their last game, so we got on court ready to play. Once we won the first set, Ravenna lost its focus and made a lot of mistakes, while my team maintained a good level of play until the end”.
